This has been one of the best hospital visits I’ve ever had. All of the nurses were caring and considerate, they truly care about the wellness of patients and will not move forward until the team unanimously agrees on a situation. They’ve been extremely accommodating and give adults and children multiple outlets to make the visit less stressful. They’ve provided me resources, worked with me and made sure I understood everything going on with my child. It was worth every minute for the drive and any time my child needs medical attention, he will immediately come here.
ZERO STARS. Absolutely appalling service at Mott's Children Hospital. My 4-year-old child suffered a head injury and we were made to wait for 4 hours without being seen by a doctor. The lack of urgency and care for a child in need of medical attention is absolutely unacceptable. The staff's incompetence and disregard for the well-being of patients is truly shocking. I would never recommend this hospital to anyone in need of urgent care for their child. Avoid at all costs. DMC took us immediate and was taken care within 30 minutes.
I want to give 5 stars because my son has been a Mott patient for 17 years. They have some of the best doctors and nurses. Even the ED staff are amazing. I’ve only had one bad encounter with a charge nurse. But this past year has been a nightmare. We’ve been admitted 6 times in the past year for 1-2 weeks at a time. All but one visit where he was sent to the PICU we were boarded in the ED for 3-5 days. The rooms are tiny, the beds unsafe, the nurses overwhelmed and not wanting to do daily meds or care because they are ED nurses. This last stay last week we actually left. My son still can’t breathe at home and for the first time in 17 years in considering going elsewhere for his care. Getting appointments this past couple years forget it. Your waiting months. My son outgrew his wheelchair and it was 3.5 months for the first available appt. So he is wheelchair dependent without a chair that fits! Cardiology. He was diagnosed with mild heart failure on our February stay. The doctor won’t see us to discuss until May! So until then he can’t even sit up without getting winded, sweats through his clothes, hyperventilates all day. I will always be thankful for Mott but whoever took over policies or whatever changed over the past year especially needs to get fixed! Boarding patients for 5 days in an emergency room is unacceptable! Do better Mott! You used to.
Thank God a place like this exists within driving distance. They say they are one of the best hospitals in the world . After living there with my son for 7 months after he was born with a severe CHD and multiple follow up stays . I can attest this is truly a top notch hospital , especially in cardiovascular issues .
Couldn’t believe how I was treated in person by the front desk receptionist. I’m a medical courier who had never been to U of M Hospital’s campus before and needed to drop off a delivery quickly. When asked for directions to the correct location, the woman stared at me as if she couldn’t believe what I was requesting, acted as if I had a bomb in my messenger bag, and couldn’t even offer to make a phone call to clarify EXCEPT to her security manager who came out and “had a word with me.” These staff were ZERO help whatsoever. I wasted over an hour trying to ask them for assistance. I would NEVER take my child to this hospital with such incompetent, clueless, and careless staff. All other hospital conglomerates Henry Ford Health, Ascension, McLaren, St. Marys have been wonderful.
Went this morning to get my kids wet cast replaced. 3 hours. 3 hours and this is what we got. Horrible service and communication throughout this place. Don't come here if you want to be seen in a timely matter.
There is no doubt in my mind when it comes to this hospital providing the most excellent care involving your child. The compassion, empathy, kindness, politeness, transparency, and love displayed in the hospital by all employees is truly remarkable. My son was severely injured while riding his bicycle and was taken by ambulance here. From the quick response to the ER triage team, to the trauma and orthopedic surgeons on the 4th floor performing surgery immediately, the entire recovery team also located on the 4th floor, and the 12th floor west ward all took outstanding care of my son. Savanna and Cynthia are the real MVP’s on floor 12 when it comes to out of this world nursing care. Catie you were a huge blessing to my son and I both when it came to top quality nursing care in the ER prior to my son going into surgery. To all the ladies at the front desk of floor 4, you all eased my worry and immensely relieved my nerves with your endless support, encouragement, and wonderful suggestions on visiting the Jones Family Center on floor 2. All of the doctors, specialists, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and everyone else I may have missed involved in my son’s treatment fully communicated, explained his care plan thoroughly, took care of his pain management, and maintained the highest grade of professionalism. I know you all don’t get the credit you deserve, but from the bottom of my heart to the depths of my soul; I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done and continue to do for my son. The facility itself is clean, sanitized, and well maintained. The room service and cafeteria was excellent and provided plenty of healthy meals and snacks to choose from. I highly appreciate the opportunity to order a “guest tray” at an affordable price of five dollars as long as it is before 11am all the way to eight dollars. Parking was only three dollars for family and friends to come visit during normal visiting hours. We may have only spent five days here, but it truly made a difference in our lives and we will forever hold all the beautiful memories in our hearts forever.
Ian Brodka in the Children's ER gave the best attention and care to my autistic son. He was very patient, kind and understanding. His knowledge of ASD and the care he provided was by far the best my son has received from any medical professional since I've moved to Michigan 5 years ago. We drove 45 min passing multiple hospitals for the best care and left feeling like that is what we received. Can't thank you enough sir.
Terrible experience from the word go. Calling pediatric neurosurg for appointment is a big fat joke. Called 4x before I finally got what I thought was an appt scheduled for my son. Drive up here and nope he's not on the schedule and Erica the one scheduler said well you didn't talk to me... so here we sit 45mins past appointment time still not knowing if my son is going to be seen... PLEASE GET YOUR CRAP TOGETHER it shouldn't be this hard to make an appointment. This is 60miles 1way from my house. Very upset mom!!!!
I am surprised that I am having to write a 1 star review. I heard wonderful things about Mott’s but unfortunately my experience was not good. My daughter had broken out in a terrible rash and I drove 45 minutes to the hospital for one thing: a blood test. They checked to see if she had a UTI instead. I came here for peace of mind but instead I waited 7 hours for them to tell me to give my daughter Motrin. If you need emergency services I would go elsewhere, they are in no rush to help you or your concerns.
