Interesting remote RV park on what appears to be a former mining area? Daily, weekly, monthly and yearly spots. Some are full hookups, some are dry camping. Community center, trash dumpsters, washroom showers, central fresh water spigots for the dry campers. Seems to be an interesting community of folks that return year after year. Staff was very friendly even to those that showed up without a reservation or prior notice. They found us a spot for a couple nites per our needs. Cell signal is poor for TMobile and Verizon, slightly better with ATT. RV area is rolling ridges and steep sections, this is not a flat RV park. The access road from paved hwy was 7.9 miles of washboard sandy dusty dirt so be warned.
Very remote, 8 miles in on unpaved rough road 34 miles north of the Mexico border July 10th - August 20th 2022 14.5 inches of rain Desert comes alive
You know for an off the beaten path RV park it's pretty decent. The prices are fair environment is nice lots of ATV trails so if you're looking for a quiet place to spend a week or even just a few days stop on by the Caballo Loco Ranch. Miles and miles of trails in the area, absolutely great people. The folks are friendly the weather is pretty decent and it's just an all-around nice place.
My parents winter there and I visit monthly. Very nice people. Very clean facilities. Tons of trails near by for off-roading and or hiking. Would recommend CLR to anyone looking so enjoy a winter in Arizona.
Michele Steiman is not a kind person, i wish I could show you what she posted on Facebook, calling people foul names, how she has double booked sites, the power is down most of the time, with no regard to people who are on oxygen and pay to have power! She once posted on Facebook, Caballo Loco Ranch LLC is a foul place to go, her bread and butter!! So long!! Upwards only from here!
Spent the Winter of 2021 and the start of 2022 great place friendly people I'm going back next year so I'm coming back If you like nature this is the place to be but bring your 4 Wheeler
First the 8 miles road is terrible.Second the owners are never there almost and are horrible host.People are friendly and the Sonoran desert is nice and it is the only thing to do there...looking at it!!!
I Love the road in. Stop, see and smell this beautiful desert. There is so much to see. Everyone's so helpful and nice. It's a great environment and if you enjoy peace, exploring and away from the hustle and bustle, this place is for you. Very clean and there is always someone here to answer questions or help.
This is a fun and very friendly community. We stayed for about 10 days and visited friends in Tucson as well as a number of Tucson museums and parks. We also did a lot of hiking near the ranch. There's so much to see and find. Be prepared to get dusty/dirty. The 8-mile dirt road to the ranch is probably the worst part. It's rough washboard but easily passable for an RV or camper trailer. It's wide and free of potholes. We enjoyed the extremely friendly people and the regularly scheduled activities potlucks, happy hour, karaoke, yoga, bingo, occasional dances, etc. The laundry room was clean and in good condition, with clotheslines in back and dryers, of course. There's a community center as well as a "bunkhouse" which houses a paperback library, pool table, comfortable seating, puzzle table and lots of puzzles, DVD library, and barely functional wifi. There are two bathhouses both unheated and showers are very hot! They also have propane refill, trash dumpster and dump stations.
To start off, Google maps tried to take me in the back way. I ended up in Mexico in the middle of nowhere,o a road? I wouldn't ride a horse on. I called the ranch and Jim pointed me in the right direction to get back to civilization. Once I got there I was informed by staff Jim was in vacation that the policy is toilets, sinks, inside showers, and holding tanks are required for long-term visits. I had contacted them x2 before spending $100 on gas to get there. Wish I had been informed of this "policy" before I went there. I'm in a camper van but don't have all the requirements. Very disappointed.
