Great atmosphere and food at this little cafe! The dining room is large and very comfortable. It has a nice, relaxing vibe thanks to the chill French music playing. I visited for lunch and got the breakfast burrito with a side of baked apples. Both were delicious, although the burrito needed a little more zing for my tastes. Fortunately, there was a bottle of Frank's Res Hot at the table This place is definitely recommend for breakfast or lunch. I myself will be back soon!
Ordered a Reuben sandwich for takeout. Got the sandwich and noticed it wasn't as toasted as I'm used to. No biggie, so I cut it in half and took a couple bites. Something didn't taste right. I opened the sandwich up and it revealed a grey meat. I thought maybe it was roast beef, and it was a simple mistake. Nope... it was sour and smelled rotten. I immediately had to run to a garbage. We called to let them know the meat was bad and the young man on the other end who was very polite asked if we wanted it remade or a refund... we chose the refund. For reference on what a rueben sandwich looks like just "google" reuben sandwich and compare those photos to mine. I hate to give a bad review but if the person making my sandwich had know the meat was funky or the just didn't care. Either way it's unacceptable.
Cute location, no issue with staff, and menu is pretty extensive… unfortunately the quality of food is just not there. Aesthetic is just non-existent when the tables are packed full of cheap condiments like it’s a fast food place. - Some higher quality items/dishes exist, and we recommend the Quiches or baked goods, but you’re going to see missteps in crepes, sandwiches, and a lot of styrofoam / excess plastic. If you sit outside you’re basically getting car exhaust with your breakfast. Parking is right next to the tables.
This was my first time here. We were in town for a family gathering, with some of us from New York, Atlanta, Chicago, North Carolina and Virginia. My cousin found this restaurant online and asked me to make a reservation for 15. The restaurant was accommodating and friendly. Our room was set up and the staff was warm and efficient. It was a great place to have brunch with our family. Thank you so much for making this day special!
Tried Cafe Des Amis for the first time, and it did not disappoint at all! The food was absolutely delicious! The Ham, Bacon & Swiss omelet was fantastic, and enough for two meals, easily! Also ordered the Bonjour, which was equally as delicious! The roasted potatoes are a great side and so much better than typical home fries or hash browns. And who can go wrong with Mancini bread for toast! I'll definitely be a repeat customer!
Some of the food was good. Some was not the savory crepe did not resemble a crepe. The service was friendly but very slow. However the thing that was very disappointing was the way the food was served. Even if you eat in they serve the salads in styrofoam lidded containers. And other food savory crepe and soup came in plastic even though we ate in the restaurant. If you care at all about the environment I’d go somewhere else . The food wasn’t worth it.
Quaint setting loved the cobblestone street. Ample food portions. Delicious bread! Food: 4/5
First time there, I got the bacon avocado omelette with red potatoes. I expected it to be a bit more flavorful and fresh. It didn’t even taste salted. I do plan to go back though and try their desserts, so I may change my rating then. My spouse loved their croissant sandwich, so that was good.
Cafe des Amis has fallen hard from how it used to be. Got sick nearly instantly after eating a Reuben sandwich. Rubber meat and weird grey color on meat. Nothing tasted fresh and I threw it away after a couple bites. 15min later and I was in the bathroom for about an hour. I remember when Cafe des Amis was all about quality and cleanliness. It seems like those are no longer their concern. Hopefully no one else gets food poisoning. I do not recommend this restaurant anymore.
Delicious brunch! We had the quiche with leeks and goat cheese, fresh fruit, goat cheese omelette, and roasted potatoes. All so tasty! Plus they have a few outdoor tables set up on a little stretch of sidewalk which made for an exceptional covid-era brunch. Highly recommend!!
