Cake Bar at Trinity Groves

About

Cake Bar at Trinity Groves serves made from scratch cakes and confections, all prepared in traditional southern style.

Description

Cake Bar is a dessert bar and retail shop where you can enjoy a large selection of traditional, southern style made from scratch cake and confections on the spot or take them to go. Items sold include 16 different made from scratch cakes, a variety of pound cakes, quick breads, cookies, ice cream and assorted beverages.

Behind the new sweet spot, CAKE BAR, is longtime baker Tracy German, whose passion for baking inspired her to open up shop with the help of the Trinity Groves incubator program. “Making food for people is a very personal thing, and it connects you to every person,” she says.

German grew up in Augusta, Georgia, and attended culinary school in Seattle.

Her mother also played a large part in how she fell in love with baking. “She was the best scratch baker I knew,” German says. “She didn’t need to follow a recipe, and if she did, she changed it to make it her own.”

She now calls Dallas home and, prior to Cake Bar, she had been selling cakes out of her house for nearly 14 years. The demand for her baking grew from word of mouth, and soon she could hardly keep up with the volume of orders.

German serves the kind of “cakes you grew up with,” with a Southern flair. Customers can get in on the action, too, by submitting their own family recipes for possible inclusion in German’s lineup. If selected, Cake Bar will recreate them and feature them as the cake of the month. “I want to recreate a memory and help create new memories,” she says.

Was excited to try Cake Bar today on my birthday after hearing a lot of good things. I purchased 1 slice each of the Caramel cake, Wedding cake and Old Fashioned Chocolate cake. Neither Caramel nor Wedding cake was moist. They both had sponge-like textures. The caramel cake’s texture was probably the worst. But the flavor and consistency of the Carmel icing was delicious! The Old Fashioned chocolate cake was the most moist but could have been a little more moist. I would have enjoyed it more if it had milk chocolate icing versus the dark chocolate option. But the icing’s consistency was nice. The Wedding cake actually had a few pieces of egg shell in it, somehow. Hopefully it’s only a few. I don’t know if the slices of cake were old but I was disappointed in the lack of moistness and the Wedding cake’s icing could have been more creamy like the other two. But I’m definitely willing to give them another chance for another piece of that Caramel cake!!
Beautiful Lil Bakery! I had a slice of Strawberry Cake, Cream Cheese Pound Cake and Banana Pudding! Every item I had was delicious. I will go back and would recommend this place for a sweet treat!
Recently visited Cake Bar while exploring the Trinity Groves area. I’ve always heard this black owned spot had really good to die for moist cakes so of course I had to see for myself! If didn’t disappoint! Pictured is the buttered pecan slice and y’all, it’s was soo moist and not too sweet. The banana pudding wasn’t my favorite but I am picky when it comes to my banana pudding so no biggie. It was only 2-3 banana pieces so if you don’t like many bananas in your banana pudding I’d suggest this as an option. I am so looking forward to visiting again and trying the strawberry cake slice! I’ve also heard the red velvet was heavenly
Haven't been in a while. So I was excited to see news flavors and items. My great grandmother made the most decadent and delicious caramel cake. I didn't expect it to taste the same but I was a little nostalgic. I hoped I would get a taste of my childhood. The icing was mediocre at best. The cake was bland and dry. Oh well it was only $7. Not impressed
Omg everything in here is so delicious and fresh lol. Every time I come I plan on buying 1 item but leave with 3 to 4 items. I can’t tell my family I’m here because they would ask for something too.
This was my first time having sweet treats from Cake Bar since moving to the area and I was satisfied. My husband brought home multiple cakes and I took a bite off of each one. I’ll rate them in the order in which I enjoyed them. #1 banana pudding best that I’ve tasted in the DFW #2 hummingbird cake #3 red velvet #4 caramel cake #5 key lime needs a bit more lime flavor #6 pineapple upside down really sweet but not bad #7 strawberry cake I did not enjoy at all. The strawberries between the layers were mushy and I didn’t enjoy the flavor of the cake but the icing was good. I would definitely recommend and return!
Cake Bar in Dallas, TX is a slice of heaven for lemon cake enthusiasts. The lemon cake I had there was simply extraordinary, a symphony of tangy and sweet flavors. Moist, fluffy, and bursting with citrus goodness, it was the best lemon cake I have ever had. The attention to detail and quality of ingredients were apparent in every bite. If you're a lemon cake lover, this place is an absolute must-visit.
I stopped in this shop to try the cake as I have always heard mixed reviews on the cakes here so I wanted to try it for myself. It's a very cute shop. The packaging and bags are cute and there was a cake vending machine outside of the bar however it did not have any cake in it. As for the cake I bought a slice of lemon and a slice of strawberry. The slices were large. The cake itself was okay it was not the best cake I have had but not the worst. I did not enjoy the frosting/buttercream on the cake. It had an off-putting flavor to me and I had to eat around the icing and just eat the cake itself. It was very crowded so it seems as a lot of people do enjoy the cakes.
OMG the best cakes I have ever had. I ordered the 5 inch keylime, German chocolate and coconut cakes. Melt in your mouth and soooo much flavor!
Paid 50 bucks for doordash to bring me 3 slices. only ate a few bites because they were all dense...If that describes to small/short slices, I hope it's the leavening. I like fluffy/moist cakes that melt in your mouth. The dense texture took away from the beautiful flavorsred velvet, German chocolate, and chocolate .what a waste!! Try at your own discretion. If you like dense, go for it.
