We specialize in hard to find cake decorating and candy making supplies. Satin Ice Fondant. Merckens chocolate. Fresh baked custom cakes for all occasions.
Established in 1990, Cakeworks was born from the need of bakers and cake decorators to purchase their tools and packaging locally. At the same time offering a custom bakery that, with correct advance notice, could provide anything from Birthday to Wedding cakes, and everything in-between, and beyond! Always priding itself in the fact that everything is freshly baked and never frozen.
Cakeworks began to grow, and so did its inventory. People began "doing it themselves" and came in for licensed character pans, cupcake papers, toppers, candles, and candy making supplies. We had it all.
Then cooking shows and magazines began sensationalizing recipes and ideas that required specific tools. An idea would spread like wildfire, but people couldn't find the tools. We had it all.
But inevitably, a local shop like this needs to evolve with the times.
First of all, Cakeworks, etc, LLC re-located to a new space one mile south on Whitney Avenue. The shop now occupies the first floor of a white house with better visibility and parking. The kitchen is larger and the retail space smaller, but the inventory is much more specialized, and the atmosphere is more cozy.
In this economic climate, we know that the licensed items can now be found easily in the larger stores for less than we could afford to sell them, since the manufacturers and distributors now require larger order quantities. We learned from our patrons the best tasting chocolate and have stocked it ever since.
In essence, we have scaled down our inventory to encompass:
-All the tools necessary for all levels of a cake decorator's needs including (but not limited to): tips, couplers, bags, nails, spatulas, turn-tables, and parchment paper sheets.
-Cake boxes and boards.
-Assorted "fancy" cupcake papers.
-Satin Ice(TM) ready-made fondant.
-Many shapes and sizes of fondant tools, stamps, and cutters.
-Various food-colorings, sprays, dusting powders, and additives for frosting, fondant, chocolate, royal icing, gum paste, etc...
-Merckens(TM) Chocolate: Milk, White, and Semi-Sweet (dark) available in 1, 2, and 5 pound bags. Colors available in half-pound bags only.
-Peter's(TM) Caramel available in 5 pound block only.
-Various plastic candy molds for all occasions.
-Lollipop sticks, apple sticks, many shapes and sizes of candy bags and boxes.
-Wide assortment of Glitters, Sanding Sugars, Shots, Jimmies, and both regular and novelty Sprinkles.
-Unique assortment of Ann Clark(TM) cookie cutters (made in USA).
-Small assortment of different sized novelty pans.
