Each raised in a farming family, Grandma and Grandpa Calabrese moved to the greenhouse’s current site in 1952 in the western Denver suburb of Arvada to start a farm of their own. Setting a foundation for year-round agriculture, the 20000 sq. ft. greenhouse was built in 1959 and continues to be the family’s primary greenhouse. By the time the latest greenhouse was added in 1990, Joe and Theresa Calabrese were second-generation owners with three kids of their own. Joe II, now the third-generation owner, has run the business since 2000.
