Helpful and kind advisors. The people who run this campus even care enough to put in a mini food area for students who cannot leave campus. And if you CAN, there's an awesome taco place next door and a subway less than a mile away. The other campus does not have food options & their advisors and business office people are mean and unhelpful. If you're lucky your biology or anatomy class will have a view of the rocket across the street at the space center. One of the buildings was constructed only 2ish years ago so it is brand new and beautiful! Love my professors as well. Nothing but great experience
my experience at calhoun was just okay. it’s a toss up to whether or not you will find a good professor. i suppose that’s most colleges though. was not a fan of some of nursing school instructors in decatur because I was told by one of them that I should give up. didn’t finish my degree here, maybe I would’ve if I picked something else. the advisors are all very helpful that I dealt with at least. the financial aid office is very nice too. it’s a cheap school, can’t beat their prices.
This community college in Huntsville has TWO buildings. There is no food places within walking distance or drinks anywhere, they serve cafeteria food overpriced, and it’s dimly lit everywhere. Small school size limit in Huntsville so might be competitive to get into certain programs.
I'm currently going to this college as we speak and on the first day I was giving nothing a lot of codes and they had new employees in the bookstore Redeeming the codes and believe it I was going to need the books I throw away the receipts well come to find out I didn't need one of the books so that's $300 down the drain for a book I can't even use the code for the website itself to access the book doesn't even work so I just gave the college an extra $300 even though the teacher notified the bookstore ahead of time that it was not necessary
Their nursing program for RN does have Saturdays and Sundays for every other semester. I see they have evening classes for their RN every other semester. There needs to evening classes for their practical nursing program, and there also needs to classes on Saturdays and Sundays too for practical nursing for working students and long distance traveling students. This campus is about a three hour drive from where I live, but there needs to part-time practical nursing or evening classes. There also needs to be a GI/Endoscopy Technician, OB/GYN Technician, Anesthesia Technician, and Ultrasound or Medical Diagnostic Technician Abdomen/OBGYN Specialist, and Ultrasound or Medical Diagnostic Technician Cardiovascular Specialist workforce training programs for night classes. I notice there is a Dialysis Technician workforce training on Mondays and Wednesdays night which fits perfect in my schedule. I have to complete credentials and continue education units for my Associate Degrees in Medical Billing & Coding Technology or Medical Office Technology due no employment history. I am also a post secondary graduate for Bachelor of Business Administration Healthcare Administration concentration from Mississippi State University May 2017. I graduated from Meridian Community College in May 2011 with Two associate degrees. There also needs to be a PSI Testing Center, and a Histology Technician program.
Hello there again! Thank-you for you Great leadership it makes a difference especially befor taking a test. The lady that gave me a map to direct where I needed to be from new york, you where very professional and polite, THANK- YOU!...... The man that gave me my locker key,you where very professional and polite too. THANK YOU for your kind words. The observer lady that was over the class while I took my test,THANK- YOU!for having patience with me when I raised my hand,I appreciate that,THANK- YOU! for helping me in a time of need.
If you need any information about anything at all, just go to the Decatur campus. The Huntsville campus has no idea what's going on.
Countless times I’ve called and I’ll talk to the operator and as Soon as they transfer me it goes to voicemail or says there busy. I’m highly disappointed
This is a community college people, you should expect them to run you through the course material and only require the bare minimum. As for the people giving a bad review because Calhoun was "easy" or the staff was "not challenging enough," needs to reevaluate their situation and go attend a university instead. The rating I submitted - being my 5-star rating for Calhoun - is solely based on my two years attending before transferring to UAH. This, I found, was to be a great starting point before diving head first into a tough university curriculum which I am majoring in computer engineering - starting my senior year. Hope this was helpful!
I'm down to just a few classes in my major, So I feel like I have a good feel for the school. Overall the staff is average, nothing exceptional. There are standouts among that staff that were exceptional, and just as many that only care about running you through the course. I have had several teachers that I will always remember and enjoyed their course. Communication with the college can be a problem at times. A big reason I'm rating a three is because of a new policy being implemented regarding tests. Almost all tests are online now. They are online, they are strictly timed, and therefore very stressful. I am almost always not given the duration of the class to take the test, often times I have less than an hour to complete a test with up to 60 questions. Overall a good school, but future policy changes may change that.
