California Bakery

California Bakery offers a nice selection of sweet and savory pastries! I have tried almost all of their savory pastries and puffs, and my favorites are definitely the pate chaud and the curry beef! The owners are sweet and friendly. I'm glad they're around and I'll be stopping by more often to pick up their offerings, which are all made fresh daily.

Update July 2023: Still the nicest shopkeepers in the neighborhood. Also, excellent old fashioned donuts I like calling in advance to order the sandwich. Sept 2022: Got the tofu banh mi and it's excellent. Asked them to toast bread extra. Watch the jalapenos! They are spicier than I expected Excellent and friendly service. Original review July 2021: Got a vegetarian empanada potato, carrots, peas, cheese ... a fruit tart ... a maple old fashioned donut. All were fresh and delicious! Nice staff too.

Great coffee, I got an Americano and a breakfast sandwich, very friendly young woman who served me. I waited a few minutes longer because she was answering a customers questions and she offered me a free doughnut for waiting!!! Only ended up waiting a few minutes So very nice. Breakfast sandwich was yummy and very large for a great price. This place is right around the corner from my house too! I love supporting my local small businesses and I will be coming here more often.

The owners/ staff are so friendly and helpful especially when explaining the many pastries and other delicious items they offer. The meat pork and sausage pies are my go to items. Flaky crust with delicious savory filling.

I purchased a ham & cheese croissant last week and it was pretty good so I went in today and ordered a roasted pork banh mi sandwich and it was fricken delicious!!! I'll be there weekly going forward. The people working there are really pleasant as well.

I just needed to write a review for this place since I’ve been here 3 times in the past week. The banh mi and donut combo is a MUST TRY. I never thought I’d put those things together for a meal but the banh mi and donuts are both menu must haves. The service is quick and friendly. It’s a neighborhood gem. Can’t beat the quality or the price!! If I could give more than 5 stars I would. The combination and xiu mai banh mis are- yum!! Chefs kiss!

Stumbled across this wonderful bakery on a recent trip to SF. Awesome donuts-full stop! Good breakfast sandwiches but the Bánh Mi & Vietnamese ice coffee were an amazing surprise. Super friendly service. Please stop by a patronize this small mom & pop donut shop.

Nicest people. Ask for Char siu bao or bbq pork bun if you don't see it.

Omg the pork and onion pastries are DIVINE. My partner brought them home for the first time yesterday because they were fresh out of the oven, and they were buttery perfection. We fought over who got the last bite! Also, the owners / staff are so kind. Happy to support his local family business.
