Although the amazingly delicious, farm-fresh, certified organic oranges from our farm speak for themselves, the accolades they have garnered over the last century reinforce Pleasant Valley Ranch’s claim to be “Home of the World’s Most Delicious Oranges.”
Pleasant Valley Ranch oranges (in conjunction with the Tulare County Board of Agriculture) won awards at both the 1909 Paris World Expo and the 1909 New Orleans World Fair. Grandpa later entered our oranges in the 1959 & 1960 California State Fair winning three blue ribbons. Our family also entered the oranges in numerous competitions here in the San Joaquin Valley, including the 2010 Tulare County Fair (2nd largest agriculture-producing county in the nation). We won first place in all six categories we entered (in which there was no distinction between conventional and organic varieties), thereby advancing our organic California oranges to the Sweepstakes Winner of the competition.
The secret to our success? Healthy, hearty, organic citrus varieties (some of which are from the original plantings of the early 1900s). An incredible location providing us a cold-tolerant microclimate in our valley, amazing sandy loam soil, nutrient-rich water and sediment from Springville’s own Tule River; healthy, sustainable farming practices and our family’s own generations-deep love of farming this incredible piece of California heritage.
