I insist that you call ahead to find out when their slow times are! We went there, no one there. Got a guided tour of the whole museum! Fantastic!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$1–5
Adult $5, kids $3 to entrance. It's nice to learn the history.Visited onPublic holidayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$1–5
I came by right when it opened out of curiosity. The staff there were very friendly and a kind native man gave me a tour. He told me a lot about different ceremonies and related it to the beliefs of the native cultures that created them. He told me about the tribes left today and his experience attending some of these same ceremonies. It really feels like a living museum representing people who walk a path different from the mainstream culture we find ourselves in. As someone fascinated by history and different cultures, this place gave much insight into the lives of California natives.
This place where in our city is probally the best little museum to visit not only because I'm Native American but because it's a small but very nice place to visit with the family to learn of The Native culture. And there's so many things to see and the gift shop has very beautiful gifts ! It's also very tranquil environment out side there a water fountain in lake and Sutter Fort right across the way that is so worth visiting also. if you are a history junkie like us ! It's not borin at all! We would definitely take our family again would of posted pics of inside but we weren't allowed to take pics inside I believe
The museum provides an exceptional portrayal of California native Americans, offering a captivating display of art and cultural artifacts. With an impressive collection of dozens of baskets, a remarkable large-scale canoe, and historically significant clothing and jewelry, it offers an enriching experience primarily geared towards adults. A visit to this museum in Sacramento is an ideal way to immerse yourself for approximately half an hour to an hour, appreciating the rich heritage and craftsmanship of the region's native peoples.
Part of our interesting, local history. The museum is small and currently $5 per adult and $3 per youth.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$1–5
This museum is adjacent to Sutter's Fort in downtown Sacramento. There is only street parking, which you can pay via the app or at the meter itself. It's very reasonable. I got 2 hours of parking for less than $4. And if time runs out you can just pay on your phone to extend the time. I highly recommend that you check out the state and museum including Sutter's Fort. If you pay for admission at one, you cannot get free at the other one. Also, photos are not allowed inside the state Indian museum which is why it's hard to find photos of what it looks like inside. It is smaller than Sutter's Fort, but it is definitely worth a stop .Each of them has their own respective gift shop. What great museums representing the history of native Americans. So many wonderful artifacts. Check out Sutter's Fort next door as well.
This is a great hidden gem. The staff was knowledgeable and patient with our questions. The exhibit was wonderfully curated and is kid-friendly. Price for entry: $5.00 Ticket type: General admission
Small but very informative. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and didn't mind taking the time to talk the exhibits. Al, the Docent was engaging and I was quite captivated by the information he was sharing... A terrific way to spend an afternoon...Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entry$1–5
Beautiful place. Whoever controls the budget needs to make it bigger. For me NDN Standing Rock pretty spiritually powerful place. The docents working that day were very friendly.
