I have been going to Camera Co-Op for almost 15 years now, less the 2 years I was in Boston.  This store is one of those true mom-n-pop's.  Great feel, vast knowledge and most of all high quality service.  It may not look the shiniest but then again neither is your old comfortable pair of shoes.  The owner Chris is outstanding and most of all fair.  Matt the manage is one of the best overall customer service driven managers I have ever come across.  He is attentive and incredibly patient with EVERYONE who sops there.  When they are busy, like most stores they may not get to you right away, but at least they will let you know they know you are there and work hard to get to you as fast as they can.  Their pricing is competitive, fair and most things are in stock.  If not they can get it for you the majority of the time.  There are only 2 legitimate camera stores in Houston and this is my go-to store!

Helpful service and quite a large store with many different types of supplies. I live an hour away, but they were the only shop open on Saturday in the afternoon. I'm glad I went and will be back! The older woman helped me make sure I had the film I need and the man African-American, so I don't see why past comments claimed they are racist, was really funny and nice during checkout. Also show your student ID and they give you 10% off! As with ANY photo store, call ahead to confirm they have what you need.

This is a wonderful store with incredibly honest, nice, knowledgeable and helpful people.  I'm not sure what happened with those few very few who have posted semi negative reviews.  I've never had a bad experience with Camera Co-op EVER,  and I've been shopping with them for at least 15 years.  I've tried the other place but like these people the best.    15 years?  gosh, can it really be that long....?  Time flies.     HIGHLY recommended.

My friends and I went yesterday 10/4/13 to buy me a camera. After reading reviews on here and yelp I went anyways. The older lady at the counter helped me out with buying a lovely Nikon camera,tripod,bag and more and had very great knowledge of cameras and assessories. She was not rude or pushy towards me and was very helpful and kind. However one of my friends noticed that another worker, a bald headed guy was following our every move. You know, because apparently a person of color is not to be trusted, especially black people. This person even watched the lady handle my transaction just to make sure I wasn't poor or broke and trying to steal. So there is some truth to the reviews that there is some prejudice going on but its not with EVERY worker. So with all being said, it is a very homely place and I will be back to purchase anything else or get camera help. Also some of you on here and yelp who were complaining over stupid stuff, you are probably one of those ignorant customers that employees in retail can't stand. Learn to be freaking patient. You are not the only customer in the world. Stop being entitled. If you are a person of color anybody who is not white you should at least go to this place. Try it once. I was recommended by a friend in my college class.  BTW, they have a tiny parking spot. Thank God my family is a family of large SUV/truck drivers which means it was easy for me to maneuver.

Lots of cool gear and film. Knowledgeable staff can be a bit snobby if you're not a pro or asking about something that interests them. Still a good camera shop. Never had a problem parking.

Camera Co-Op is an unique retail experience. With long-term, knowledgeable employees you cannot help but find answers. The care and attention they give clients is magnitudes of excellence about that other "major" camera shop!

I went there the other day and like the person previous to me, I was ignored. But my story is different. A Caucasian man walked in and the employee stopped what he was doing and paid attention to him, even though i was there first! I had cash on me too. I was looking for a new lens. I am of Asian descent and i was made to feel singled out because i'm a minority.  Bad business.

Great camera store! I always go here for all my darkroom supplies, chemicals, photographic paper, film, everything. The staff is really helpful, and can answer any question that you might have about an item.

I go there to find old lenses. It is a great place, good prices. But most importantly great, great service. No matter who you deal with whether it is Matt, Erwin, Dave or Mary, they are so helpful and will always give you good advice. Many thanks.

These guys have always been just the friggin best. Prices are super competitive if not better than other brick and mortar  and even some online stores *cough* B&H *cough*. Even then because of the awesome service, advice, and help I get spending the tiny bit of cash I'd save from buying online isn't a big deal at all that's saying a lot from a tight-wad like myself.  -Cj
