I went to Camp Burt Shurly with my younger siblings and it was amazing. I was only able to participate for one year as I turned 12 the following year but I will sing its praises. Counselors were great with the children and were more like big brothers and sisters. I’m happy to see the camp thriving on.
Well camp Burt Shurly 10 out of 10 I loved this camp I went 4 different times when I was 10 11 12 and 13 I can’t go now because I’m 16 if you never went to camp or out of your space I recommend you to go to camp it’s so fun you couldn’t bring your phones only because it would distract you from everything in if you’re worried about it being bored think again Pooh cause it’s just like you being around family cracking jokes and playing games in you make a lot of friends it’s zip lining, swimming, hiking, kayaking/canoeing, archery, rock climbing it’s a lot but it hot outside when I tell you it was hot that’s why my favorite thing to do was swimming but yeah it was very fun and I would go back a million times if I could
Oh my!!! Camp Burt Shirley still open. I remember going to this camp every year. My siblings and I was there for two weeks and sometimes we would go twice in one summer. I was so much fun and we looked forward to going every year. Parents would visit the first Sunday of that first week stay. I’m in my early 60’s now, but, I remember the fun. Burt Shirley you rock!!! I was the waterfront director there 1973 and 1974 I think I loved the experience, the friends I made and being with campers experiencing lakes and woods for the first time. "Where does the water go at night?" "Where do the fish sleep?" The waterfront was the most popular place at camp. I loved the experience!!! Thank you!!!
I went in 2018 and the counselors was mean they had the kids in my cabin sit on the floor , I went to sleep early but woke up and seen them. and we couldn't use the bathroom in OUR cabin . I got homesick and I asked the owner if I could go home and all he said was ok and never let me call my parents . so i ended up staying . Worst experience
I’m 55. I went there in grade school. Sampson Elementary. I loved it. They told us there is something in the woods, so don’t go walking around. It was to keep us close to the cabin…..lol….pure fun!!!
Camp Bert Shirley definitely will always have a special place in my heart my younger brother and I went back in 1996.
I used to be a counselor and water front director for several years. And I am glad to see the camp continue Thank you for some of the best years of my life.
