Project HEAL (Human, Environmental & Animal Links) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring and nurturing the bond between children and nature. Our mission is to enrich the lives of children through experiences that provide meaningful interaction with the environment, deepen connection to community, and develop the human/animal bond.
We believe that relationships with animals and nature encourage compassion and empathy early in life, build character, strengthen self-esteem, and give children a sense of empowerment and responsibility. The lessons children learn from interacting with animals and the environment have the potential to carry-over into children’s lives, helping to make them positive members of the community as a whole.
Our programs include a summer day camp; year-round environmental & humane education programs including after-school, nature pre-school/kindergarten and family programs; scout programs; and class trips for schools.
Our environmental education programs that focus on instilling a respect and understanding for wildlife and the environment utilize the local ecology as our outdoor classroom, and we also have a small farm sanctuary called Dolittle Farm, made up of rescued farm and domestic animals, to help us promote humane education ideals.
The names of some of Project HEAL’s programs include:
•Camp Creek Run – Day camp for children ages 4-12
•EcoKids – Nature Pre-school/Kindergarten EcoStudy programs
•LEAF (Learning, Exploring, and Fun) Nature Club –
After-school program for kids in grades 4-8
We are located at Camp Creek Run, our beautiful 50 acre camp and nature preserve in Marlton, NJ. Camp Creek Run has been preserved from development through generous grants from New Jersey's Green Acres Program, the Burlington County Freeholders, and the Trust for Public Land.
