About

Camp Lakota is a Boy Scout Summer Camp in the Black Swamp Area Council, that allows boys to not only work on merit badges, but to take adventures, make new friends, and experience things that mom would not let them do at home!

"Camp Lakota—the name commonly used for both Lakota and Neil Armstrong camps—is owned and operated by the Black Swamp Area Council, BSA. The camp covers 640 acres, including the 48 acre Lake Glengary, and is bordered on the west side by the Auglaize River. The camp houses 18 conservation-type campsites: 13 on the Lakota side of the reservation and 5 on the Neil Armstrong side. The program areas are primarily located around Lake Glengary. A typical week of camp includes 175-200 Scouts that are offered a myriad of opportunities for individual attention. Due to its large size, varied geography, and hiking and canoeing opportunities, Camp Lakota is considered by many to provide a “rustic” summer camp experience."

What an absolutely amazing place for young kids to learn great life lessons. Our son couldn't say enough about how much he absolutely loves the staff here. He's been here quite a few years now and I'm sure he will want to continue to come each season for many years to come. I highly encourage folks to put their children in these programs.
Fantastic Experience for First-Year Scouts at Camp Lakota! Rating: 5 out of 5 stars Review: I recently had the pleasure of visiting Camp Lakota near Defiance, Ohio, with our scouts for their first-year program. I am thrilled to leave a glowin review about our experience at this exceptional camp. Camp Lakota surpassed all expectations in terms of cleanliness and organization. During our visit on parents' night and the closing campfire, I was impressed by the immaculate condition of the campgrounds. The staff's dedication to maintaining a tidy and inviting environment truly enhanced our overall experience. It is clear that the camp's management places a strong emphasis on creating a positive and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone. The organization at Camp Lakota was outstanding. The staff efficiently coordinated all activities and events, resulting in a seamless experience for our troop. The well-planned schedule allowed our scouts to participate in a diverse range of exciting and educational programs. The attention to detail was evident in the smooth flow of operations, enabling our scouts to engage fully and make the most of their time at camp. I must commend the first-year scout program at Camp Lakota. It was tailored perfectly to meet the needs of our young scouts, providing an excellent introduction to Scouting. The activities offered were age-appropriate and fostered skill-building while keeping the emphasis on fun and friendship. Our scouts not only acquired vital outdoor skills but also formed lasting bonds with fellow campers.
I'm from Troop 69 from Celina, and I've gone here for three years of Summer Camp and it's been some of my best Scouting Experiences. Over a really pretty camp. Also, fun fact: Lakota has better air quality then most other places in the US
Just here for a cross country practise. Looks like a nice place to walk.
Didn't stay there but our Scout troop has had good experiences there.
Awesome family night for our 2 scouts after spending a week there. Had a shuttle to dining area....would have been nice to have a ride back to our car after the meal...walking the mile was very hard on this senior with a cane
Great camp! Large Scout camp. Saw lots of wildlife and had plenty of room for the boys to explore.
It is my son's favorite boy scout camp to go to
I’ve been going to this camp since 2012 as a Boy Scout and before that as a Cub Scout. I’ll never forget all of my experiences and all the friends I’ve made at Camp Lakota. I finished my last year as a scout here and I will say this camp gave me the best experiences of my life and I will always recommend it as a wonderful camp to go too.
