More than 150 years of Sequoia history here at Camp Nelson. Here's hoping this beautiful old Lodge will reopen to the public after too many years as a semi-private retreat.Rooms: 3/5
We booked here very last minute after a cancellation somewhere else and we're very happy with our night there. There a lot of great hiking spots in the area. There is a nice tavern across the street with music and simple food, but it was all good. The lodge itself was empty when we were there, but we were free to hang out there. And it had a nice little breakfast. All around, very pleasant. No wifi in the rooms though.
Great place to disconnect. If you need T.V, WIFI, cell service, or a phone this is not your place. Had a great weekend just relaxing and hiking. Views are beautiful, we saw deer and coyotes on the lawn. Very rustic, beds are comfortable, showers are you, has a mini fridge, and small coffee pot. They need to add small microwaves as the main lodge is not accessible to normal guests and provide coffee. They do provide yes and hot chocolate. They provide games in your room and lawn games. General store expensive, and bar and grill across the street. A mile down the road is Pier Point and they have great breakfast. I will definitely return and recommend staying here if you need a place to truly relax.
What a wonderful place to be with GOD. Everytime my family visits this place we have made memories and connections with our CREATOR while marveling at HIS wonderous creation. The rooms are spacious and all the accommodations you would expect from a 5 star hotel tucked away in a beautiful mountain town are there. I especially enjoy the journals we have found in various rooms. The stories, thoughts, and notes from other visitors are pleasant and often enlightening in terms of the spirit. Everything from the decor to the linen draws you in and makes you feel at home. Love this place and hope to be able to enjoy this blessing in the future.
Very unique place must see, historical, and suspensful....its for sale right now $3,000,000 it can be yours 50s style diner, full kitchen and hotel rooms for guests
This is one of My favorite Places in the whole World.I used to run this lodge. It's my friendly hometown addition just a few miles up the road.It smells and looks so beautiful summer or winter rain snow or shine, it is Truly God's Country!! Right below the Great Western Divide.
This place is beautiful, the view is full of trees and mountains. The stars can be seen in all their glory at night. The room was clean and fairly large - we stayed in Room 1, called "The Cabin" When we arrived, no one was there, but the door to our room was unlocked with the key inside. The tavern owner across the street told us how to get into the room. I was disappointed to find that we would not be able to explore or use the lodge itself, we just had access to the outside lawn, games, and to our room. We did get a tour when the caretaker of the lodge not the owner, Gladys, came the next day to collect our dues. Gladys was kind and gave us a little bit of information, but not the whole story. Apparently the previous owner - Bonnie Hood - had been murdered at that location, by her husband back in 1987. All the townsfolk seemed to know about it, but were not willing to really talk about it. We loved the area, but it is a very small town and you can feel a sense of isolation if you are an outsider. Not many places to eat either, but the Nelson Tavern across the street had AMAZING food and a bar well stocked with beer.
Mountains get older with age. Nelson lodge holds everything that age. As a child a playground that kept the parents safe. As the children ran all over playing . The parents were the best for teaching us how to make fun and to pass it on.... WHAT A GREAT WEEKEND AT CAMP NELSON MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL! AUG 2017
It was absolutely beautiful and lots of room for my children to play! It was like camping but you don't have to worry about putting up a tent.
I visited camp Nelson for a staff team building retreat. It was wonderful! The grounds are beautiful and the cabin was nice. Highly recommend for a quick getaway.
