Camp Shi'ini

Camp Shi'ini is an incredible summer camp in Pasadena. My family moved here from Charlotte, NC in 2011, and my kids were convinced that there would never be a summer camp to rival where they attended back home. But when they came back home after their first day at Camp Shi'ini 3 years ago, they said it was the best camp they had ever experienced. The counselors are super attentive and very considerate. I really like how the camp has a legitimate 6:1 counselor-to-camper ratio, which was way better than any of the other camps that we considered before enrolling in Camp Shi'ini. And the camp's programs are amazing. My son enjoys their annual Olympic Games and his team has taken 1st place 2 years in a row. My daughter really looks forward to the beach trips and the horseback riding. The camp also has canoe rides, archery, treasure hunts, swimming, and just about everything a kid could possibly crave in the summertime. I highly recommend Camp Shi'ini to the Pasadena community!

I have a 6 year old daughter who I signed up for Camp Shi'ini last summer and she had a WONDERFUL experience. The activities at Camp Shi'ini are really remarkable. My little girl came home every day after camp and relayed to us some of the most amazing stories of her adventures at Camp Shi'ini. She went canoeing, she shot bows and arrows, she swam, she hiked, and she painted a wooden totem pole that's still in our family room and it well over 3 and a half feet high. And perhaps her favorite activity was participating in an elaborate treasure hunt where the kids team up with costumed Native American Indian good-guys and then find a treasure and save the world from costumed bad-guys and villains. It really makes me wish that I was a kid again! And just as I could not believe that such an adventure could ever be orchestrated, we received a set of DVDs last month from the camp which showed the entire treasure hunt adventure of last summer. Like I said, I wish I was a kid again and could go to Camp Shi'ini too! My daughter is returning to Camp Shi'ini in a few months for another summer of adventure. I highly recommend the camp. It's not cheap, but it has a huge 'bang for the buck' and your kids will definitely not be disappointed! Give them a try.

I commute to Pasadena every day for work and had seen large camp vans with Camp Shi'ini logos driving kids. So when my son was old enough, I called the camp and inquired about their program. The OWNER himself answered the phone and took the time to talk to me and answer all my questions. In today's day and age, that is extremely rare, and I was impressed from the get-go. When my son came home from camp on the first day, he was so excited to tell me all about the adventures he had experienced. He had gone canoeing, participated in a treasure hunt, done arts and crafts, swam, and made new friends on the first day. I eventually got to meet his counselors and they both were awesome. We are returning to Camp Shi'ini again this summer full time! Their quality of care is very elite. And the fact that the owners are at the camp managing it speaks volumes. I highly recommend Shi'ini.

Camp Shi'ini is an amazing camp! It is full of wonderful activities with lots of physical activity. There is a story that the staff come up with every year. This story unfolds with hidden treasure and the staff act it out. When my children come home, all they can talk about is what is going to happen the following day. The owners of the camp are kind, compassionate men who have only the very best counselors hired. I would highly suggest this camp to any child.

I would like to tell you about an amazing day camp summer program, I liked the feeling that my grandkids would be safe and have fun right in Pasadena!. Now that I am a grandma and have the kids all summer, this camp helps to divide up the kids day. I don't have to drive because the camp will pick up and drop off the kids when they are finished! I like to have dinner ready when their parents come home so that the rest of the evening they can rest. Camp Shi'ini has organized a program with hikes, swimming, and learning to shoot an arrowto name a few. My grandkids can participate in totem pole painting and even learn horseback riding - there are field trips that include going to the beach. Kids will have the time of their lives attending Camp Shi'ini. Hope this comment helps you make your decisions.

Best experience ever. If you want your kids to have the best five weeks of their lives then you need to enroll them in camp shi'ini. They are reasonably priced and the company van picks you up to their gorgeous campgrounds where they participate in activities like canoeing and archery. Five stars!

My 5 y.o just wrapped up the first time at Camp Shi'ini. It was an excellent, five-Star experience. High fives to all the counselors and shout out to the camp co-directors who pour their heart and hard work into make this experience stellar. Camp Shi'ini is a day camp based in Pasadena with pick up and drop off at your residence. Hours are from 8:30am to 4:30pm approximately. This is a day camp that emulates the feeling of a going away camp so that kids can really have that real camp taste while not being so far from home. It's the best of both worlds- no homesickness and kinship with their "cabins" aka tribes. The vans that come to pick up and drop off are very new, air conditioned, and clearly display the camp logo on the door; they are driven by alumni campers who are college bound counselors. They are polite, are great with kids, and have great affinity and loyalty to the camp. It's so much like a real camp the campers love coming back every year and growing up with their camp buddies. Lunches have to be packed by yourselves but the kids are so active during the day they will pretty much demolish whatever is packed. Also any power bars or snacks. We froze a bottled water every night before camp so that the water stayed chilled during the day. Weeks 1-4 they do a variety of activities such as canoeing, archery, horseback riding, and camp lore storytelling and enactment by the counselers. They begin each day with the Camp shi'ini cheer, hiking, camp activities, lunch outdoors, crafts with nice materials, swimming at the pool, playtime at a park, and end with a chapter of their camp lore stories that are dramatised with special effects including use of a drone. Outings include Sunset Beach day and a visit to Ghost Town. Week 5/ the final week of camp consists of olympics where the kids participate in relay type races and silly old fashioned kid fun such as wrapping up their counselor in cloth bandages like a mummy. They serve hot dogs and a variety of fruit drinks at the finale, marking a great end to the camp.

I have a 7 year old and a 12 year old....my kids LOVE coming here! I was never one to go to camp when i was younger but my friend brings her kids here so i thought i would give it a try about how much she was talking about it. When my kids are happy Im happy. Camp Shi Ini is one of the best camps still around and close to where we live. I highly recommend them to any parent looking for a great oppertunity for their kids = ]

CAMP SHI'INI IS THE BEST SUMMER CAMP IN PASADENA BY A MILLION MILES! The activities are so much better than any of the other camps that we have tried. Nobody else has canoeing, nobody else has totem pole painting, and certifiably nobody else has the interactive treasure hunt adventure that Camp Shi'ini has! BEST CAMP IS PASADENA!!!!!

I had a great time meeting different mothers who brought their kids here to camp shi ini. I have only brought my 8 year old here once...but im planning on bringing her a lot more she semed to love it...interacting with other kids and all the activities! I think they are really good for her..shes very shy but the counclers are very nice and inviting! Im just trying to get her back and I know shell love it even more!
