University provides opportunities for adults with special needs to continue developing interests as well as life, social, and job skills so that they Can Achieve their Maximum Potential.C.A.M.P. is a day habilitation program that is offered to High School Graduates with intellectual delays. C.A.M.P. stands for Can Achieve Maximum Potential and is based on the belief that special education graduates can and should continue staying active socially, mentally, and physically in order to reach their own maximum potential.PLEASE NOTE THAT VISITORS ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. My experience at C.A.M.P was absolutely amazing! I started off as an intern and then got offered a position to become a teacher shortly after. In the 7 months that I was there, I truly learned a lot, gained experience, confidence, and most importantly the desire to continue in the rehabilitation field! I appreciate the love and support I got from the students and staff who truly made me who I am today! I definitely recommend to others who are looking to grow and gain experience. I also recommend for parents who are looking for a place for their child with special needs to continue developing after high school in social skills, learning and more. The staff are truly awesome!!
In my experience, there's never a dull moment at C.A.M.P.! It's an environment where fun, things to do, and interactions with our students is priority. In working with C.A.M.P. I've seen results with the students. For instance, LeeAnn has progressed to being able to identify a color without being prompted; Job went from keeping to himself or just talking about one subject to being more verbal and hatching a sense of humor; I've seen Roxie become more receptive toward instruction than ever before. The environment at C.A.M.P. is always very uplifting. The staff has been caring and positive; they are definitely open and listening to hear how C.A.M.P. can continually be improved for students. My hope is that C.A.M.P. can gain the funding for a group home and for advanced classes in specialized subjects like art. I have enjoyed my time being a teacher at C.A.M.P. University and recommend families of students graduating from high school to consider taking them to C.A.M.P. University.
I absolutely love this place! The service provided to the Students, the care and professionalism of the staff, and the we-belong-here feeling. I 100% would, DO, and would urge others to support this mission.
