Description

Camp Wokanda, acquired from W.D. Boyce Council of the Boy Scouts of America, offers a beautiful 316-acre woodland setting, including a lake for fishing. The camp, with dining hall, sleeping cabins, program buildings and tent camping, offers a variety of naturalist tours, environmental education, and rental options to groups interested in a secluded, close-to-nature gathering. Located just 20 minutes from downtown Peoria, this Peoria Park District site has been providing fond memories for its young campers since the 1920s.

Primarily used as a facility for group camping events, Camp Wokanda's overnight accommodations include cabin and primitive camping, as well as a central lodge and dining hall. Camp Wokanda hosts events including guided tours, environmental education programs, retreats, and even weddings.

DIRECTIONS: To get to Wokanda from Peoria, take Route 29 north and turn left on Old Galena Road just north of Route 6. Follow this past Mossville Grade School, then turn left on Boy Scout Road and proceed to the park entrance.

Camp Wokanda offers a bunch of rental and camping opportunities, as well as the location the Peoria Park Districts phenomenal maple syrup is produced! It is also a fantastic place to learn about plants and hike. Right now you can spot some of the first blooms of spring right along the trails. These tiny flowers are Spring Beauties Claytonia virginica!

Great trails and views

We have visited Camp Wokanda several times with the family recently. It's a wonderful place I first discovered with Scouts in the 70s, and it's still a great place to this day. Again we went this last weekend. We rented a cabin with a wood stove for $60. We purchased the wood there for $20. That was enough wood to keep us warm and toasty all night with logs to spare in the morning. As always Camp Wokanda was excellent. The staff was absolutely fabulous and actually making maple syrup when we arrived. We really appreciate all that Wokanda offers. Thanks again Camp Wokanda :- The Flanigans

Love camp wokanda! We go every year. Beautiful!

Attended a wedding here. The land is beautiful a and the buildings are very nice. Was the perfect place for the occasion.

Didn't use the cabin that is in the description, but we love hiking here and in Robinson Park.  The one trail with the BIG A$$ staircase is a killer going up.

Rent this cabin for around 60 a night. Headed by woodstove and has 10 bunk beds. Great place to visit.

Very nice park setting.  I was there for a wedding reception.

Cabins out in the wilderness but local. Great place to rent a cabin
