Grew up coming here and had the greatest of memories. This last weekend I was able snag a reservation for a tent site and brought my two little boys for what I'd hope would be a great experience. Within the first half hour I had a staff member later found out it was a gal named "Lynn"? approach and reprimand me for not returning my firewood cart quick enough. I apologized and said I was on my way to walk it back, but hadn't even had it 20 minutes. She aggressively yelled, "we only have four of them!!!!". Mind you, I'm a 39 year old rule following, accommodating woman. The interaction was bizarre to say the least. Then, the next morning the same woman attacked me by the restrooms stating my car was parked there too long. I packed up and left immediately. NEVER AGAIN. What an icky, mean human.
Was a nice campgrounds, site was nice, lake and fishing were great. Facilities were maintained beyond expectations. Restrooms: Cleaned daily twice a day, so very clean.
We've been camping here for years, since we were kids. Absolutely wonderful campground. A one of a kind experience. Campers' Paradise holds a special place in our hearts for sure.
Only sublime comes to mind and Lynn , mom 96 and I where assisted by and in the circumnavigation of parking adversity. Lynn was so outstanding, even brought the fire-wood-buggie back for us N gift basket full of pastries/ coffee in the morning
Amazing experience! We had an inside spot and it was perfect! Not to close to people, very quiet and amazing workers! They even brought water to us when we forgot to fill on our way in!
My family has visited Camper's Paradise for several generations. My grandparents used to bring my father and his siblings and we went there as kids too. It is beautiful and kept in great condition. A few years back I took my husband there to see if he would be interested in booking a week and we did the following summer. Today I brought my daughter and a couple of her cousins to show them the island and see if they would want to camp there next year. I did not let them run around or even leave the vehicle until just before the road out. There is a boat access completely unoccupied and not in the way of traffic. I told them it isn't like some lakes that are slimey. I let them but their feet in and all children were within reach of me only as deep as their ankles. We were there all of three minutes and getting ready to leave. The owner lady pulls up and in a rude tone says are you guests. I said no not this season. We were in the area and I wanted to show the kids the island their family including great grandparents used to camp. I said we were just leaving but since I had her there asked if she knew if they still had cabin openings for next year. She snapped at me that they were full and said she would wait right there for us to leave. It honestly a crushing experience it has been a favorite place to go all my life. While I cannot say there was race discrimination like another reviewer said she gave my daughter who is brown a stare.
Best camping experience I have ever had. Our campsite was very private even though there was plenty of other campers not far away. Really didn't feel like they were close at all. The trails were nice. Like was cleaner than most places drinking water ha. Beach was clean and Sandy. Fire wood was not super expensive. Very family friendly. Would have liked to get out fishing on lake belle taine but ran short on time since we traveled to Itasca state park which isn't far from here. I hope we can go back in 2020 sometime before they close.
This place is a 5 star property. It's a beautiful lake, a beautiful property, they upgraded the restrooms a few years ago. The owners do a good job keeping it nice. I can only imagine the amount of work it takes to keep up such a big property. Now, here's where it gets bad: The lady that owns the place can be fantastic, or she can be a total nightmare. Your experience will really depend on the mood she's in. I've stayed probably 5 times, two of them week long stints and there hasn't been a time where she hasn't been awful to deal with at some point during a stay. It's not like I had one bad experience, one trip. It's every time. For that reason, I haven't been back for a few years. Anything you read in a review about policies changing or being told one thing once and another thing the next time are all believable. I've experienced it and have seen it second hand.
We had a great time camping at Camper's Paradise! We were searching for somewhere to camp and a coworker recommended it, I'm glad we took her advice! The lake is beautiful! The beaches are really nice, there's a playground, beach volleyball, and the campsites are private and spacious! We brought our 8 month old with us and we didn't need to worry about his cries waking the neighbors. The shower house was nice and clean, they even had a large sink next to the baby's changing table with a shelf above it that made it easy to bathe my little one. The only downside to Campers Paradise is that there are no water hookups at the campsites. We got in late and realized we had no water, we didn't think to ask, my husband just assumed with electric you'd also get water hookups, which wasn't a huge deal because there is a nice shower house close by but I wish we had known ahead of time to pack accordingly. There are no water hookups on the island, only electric. If your RV has a holding tank you'll have no problem, ours just doesn't have one. Other than that the island is beautiful and the perfect getaway! They have boat, pontoon, kayak and paddle board rentals, there are 2 water trampolines at the beach and the water was so clear! There are bike trails and the sites on the lake have their own beaches! Next year I'd love to have an outside site on the lake! We had a great time and we will definitely be back!
We drove a few hours to spend Father's Day weekend with our family at a site they had booked for a week. When booking, my family who we were staying with, was very clear to ask the price multiple times and we're told they would pay 48 per night and guests, including overnight, would be 10 per person per night. On arrival the younger woman behind the counter was very enjoyable to talk to while waiting. We ended up getting helped by the older woman with the glasses who was extremely rude. She proceeded to tell us that the guest policy only applies to non family members and that we would be charged a full site fee 48 per night to stay in the same site. We explained what we were told and she insisted that their policy has been that way for over a half century despite our insistence about what we were told. She claimed that all of their literature and website clearly states this but it only says 48 per family defined as parents and dependants. It then defines a guest as "someone who is not an immediate family member see above. The charge for each daily or overnight guest is $10 per day." Between what we were told and the website this was very deceptive. The extra star is for the younger woman's conversation and site quality.
