Association of health professionals in the field of medical radiation technology
Founded in 1942 by a coalition of provincial associations, the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) is Canada’s national professional association and certifying body for medical radiation technologists and therapists across the country. There are four disciplines represented among CAMRT’s membership: radiological technology, magnetic resonance, nuclear medicine and radiation therapy.
As the national professional association, the CAMRT is the national body in a partnership with ten provincial associations who share a common membership of approximately 12,000. CAMRT is the national organization for the medical radiation technology profession and has the ability to bring to the table all relevant stakeholders.
As the national certifying body, CAMRT develops and administers national certification exams for the four disciplines among its membership. The exams test against a pre-determined standard that is reflective of the competency required to practice safely and effectively at the entry-to-practice level in the current Canadian healthcare environment.
CAMRT is governed by a Board of Directors and supported by numerous committees of member volunteers.
The CAMRT Foundation exists to support its members and the advancement of the profession. While it is a separate entity from the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT), the Foundation complements and enhances the educational activities of the professional association and its members.

Mission of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists
The Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) serves and supports its members to provide patients the highest quality of medical imaging and radiation therapy care. CAMRT ensures that all medical radiation technologists (MRTs) are certified as having the knowledge, skills, and judgment to enter practice. Through the development of services and tools, it helps MRTs continue to practice safely and effectively in a rapidly evolving field. As the national voice of the profession, the CAMRT is engaged internationally and promotes the effective contribution of MRTs in Canadian health system discussions and decisions.
