Unprofessional general manager. Terrible leadership and adversarial. I had entered the store on Dec 26th 2022 to purchase an artificial Christmas tree. While I’m the seasonal section, an employee was asked if the trees could be returned, to which he replied yes, but to make sure ask the cashier. My wife, her parents and I all them went to the cash and asked the girl who was working the same question. The cashier did not know, so we asked to speak to a manager. The manager came from the customer service counter and said it would be returnable but only for store credit. This was fine for us, as we do a lot of shopping there and would use the store credit quickly. 4 days I attempted to return the product as there was no way it matched the picture as advertised. The customer service employee said no, it was not returnable even for store credit. I asked to speak to the manager and told him the whole situation. He also said no, they would not take it back under any circumstance. I asked if there was anyone else I could speak to, and he told me he would call the general manager. The general manager came down, well came close anyway. He talked to the manager over a radio while staring at us from 20 feet away. Super unprofessional leadership making his other staff repeat all his words instead of just coming to talk to us personally. I got fed up with relaying my words to his employee who then radios it to him standing 20 ft away so I just called over to his and asked him to come and talk instead of using radios. At this point I was frustrated, and he was super adversarial. He refused to help in any way by asking any of the employees I mentioned I had spoken to if they did indeed tell us the product was returnable. I had made a poor choice of words when saying “you are —“ kidding me when he kept saying no. He then became even more adversarial and irate saying not to cuss at him or in his store, trying to assert dominance infront of his staff, who were then all gathered around at this time. If you read this, I hope your work gives you re-training on deescalation techniques and customer service. Go and talk to customers instead of hiding and using a radio. If a customer is upset, take them aside and have a genuine conversation instead of making it worse and trying to show your power to employees. Honestly, take some leadership classes. Dale Carnegie would do wonders for you For other customers, shop elsewhere other than the Rockland Ontario location.
Very nice staff! Always there to help u when needed, but it just too them a little be more time to get to us but they eventually helped us!
Great service! lady at cash was very nice and a young guy helped me put the dehumidifier in my trunk.
Worst Canadian Tire store I have ever been. The customer service staff are rude and and never apologetic for the mistakes they made. I bought two shelves three weeks ago by online. When I picked it up, they said there was one item available to pick up. After a couple of days, I went to pick up the second item, the staff said that the item is there, but they couldn’t locate it. They agreed to call me and took my phone number, but they never bothered to call me. While I was at the store today today to return another item, staff was so adamant that she needed the original receipt. I told them to look up by the order number, but she was so adamant that the item couldn’t be returned without a receipt. Another person came over and helped to process the return and a receipt was not needed to return an item as long as we have the order confirmation number. Then, I checked with them about the another order which I never picked up. They said they were going to check and found it. I picked up the item and left the store. The lady at the customer service came after me shouting that I could not leave the store as I never paid it. I told her that it was an online order which I already paid and I already showed them the receipt. She grabbed the item and said that I needed to get back to the store to pay it. I asked them to keep it with them and left the store. This was one of the most embarrassing moments in my life. I later called the store again and spoke to a staff. They said they couldn’t check the status and I had to attend the store in person. They then transferred to another person and they were able to confirm that I paid for the item by placing it online. When I explained what happened today, she said it was a mistake, but did not have the courtesy of apologizing for that mistake and the embarrassment.I will never go back to this store. Hope noone would ever experience something like this.
Staff was very helpful for my odd request. It was nice to see the staff to be perfectly Bilingual
Selection was a little bit limited. I was looking for an expandable cup holder. None available.
The store itself is great, staff is always super helpful and courteous. Usually pretty well stocked as well. The service centre is another story, never a great experience unfortunately. New tires were incorrectly mounted on the rims and caused a flat tire within 10 minutes of leaving. Seasonal tire changeover resulted in dirty handprints pretty much everywhere in the vehicle. Time estimates for service have never been accurate. Overall just very frustrated and will not return for service here.
Unfortunately I didn’t take a cool photo of the customer that helped me but she was definitely helpful & nice. I have visit this location several times, & it’s always a pleasure stopping by a clean & friendly environment. I came back to change my 4 s to rating , simply because of the replied received an hour ago. I literally had to pull over on the side, just to reply back. Haha thank you. I’m definitely a loyal customer to this location.
Very unsatisfied with there service they sold me rims and tire that don’t fit on my vehicle and they won’t take them back
Staff were helpfull even though I went in 10 minutes before closing,yes Idid feel guiltyabout that. They also changed the layout which makes much easier to move back and forth between departments.
