The view at the edge looking down at the “Islands in the Sky” was just incredible, that it literally gave me goosebumps. If you are afraid of heights, you might have to stay at a distance. But you would be missing a lot. I definitely want to go down the Schafer Canyon Road someday.
Fantastic stop with wonderous views. It is surely an island in the sky. Great facilities including bathrooms. A quick walk across the street from the visitor center will present you with a spectacular sight.
Island in the Sky at Canyonlands National Park is well worth a trip to visit. The area has breathtaking views and everything is super accessible by car and very short hikes. Longer trails are available as well. Try to get to to Mesa Arch by sunrise on a clear day for a spectacular sight.
We loved our trip to Canyonlands NP! Did the junior ranger program with our kids and the rangers were super enthusiastic about it and made it a great day!
In Canyons National Park. out of Moab. Big park. went on some hike at the end of the road. at this time you do not need a timed entry permit. visitor center very nice, pit toilets.
We enjoyed our visit to Canyonlands National Park. The place is unbelievably huge and totally worth the extra few minutes off the highway if you're in Moab. I wish we had more time to explore but we will definitely be back.
This is a pretty typical National Park visitors center that's well maintained and has a bit of info about the park inside. The staff are super friendly and you can pick up souvenirs to take home. They have bathrooms outside and plentiful trash and recycling cans.
A solid National Park visitor centre with good info on the geology and natural history. Exit through the gift shop. And go to the trails and the Grand View Overlook.
The park itself was fantastic! The Visitor Center was oK except for the irony of the gift shop is wide open for the many folks there to enjoy. Ironically the interpretive center, in the same large room was cordoned off and even the displays were covered with sheets! I was told by a park ranger that they are concerned with large gatherings. I asked about the difference between the crowded gift shop and the interpretative displays she said that I had a point!
A quick and easy hike with a great view! Can take toddlers, but keep them close since there are no safety rails. During our visit all areas seemed to be under a continued mask mandate so come prepared just in case. If you have height anxiety is recommend viewing from a distance.
