Before I purchased a ready to go cake in the fridges and the bread was hard, so I inquired about it and the staff said next time place an order in advance so it’s fresh. So I come in for the next birthday celebration and place an order three days ahead of time, when I arrived the lady pulled a cake from the fridge and said here you go. I said where’s the personalization, she said oh let me write it. Then I asked was this made for me or was this prepared for sales she said my order was not made and this is how they handle all orders. I was soo mad I bet this cake will be hard and expired too.
I LOVE capricious cake shops they sell the best PASTELES indica strand please go buy Cakes from there. They're the best in the RGV
I do recommend this place if you’re planning a big party and have the time to plan. Otherwise… this place has many rules, all I want is a delicious to-go cake for an intimate birthday dinner and it is almost impossible. The cakes are pricey, too rich and very limited in sizes. It’s too much cake for an intimate birthday dinner celebration of 7 - 8. If you want a specific flavor, size or cupcakes that it actually does offer, plan a few days ahead…but who has time for that? And for the price, I would expect quicker service and more convenience. The one in North McAllen is just impossible and not worth the time; it is a hit or or miss, mostly misses, every time we have tried.
*response to the "owner* Hello, and no im not looking for "free" credits,, if the quality was up to par. I did review both locations because I've often visited BOTHstores. Please DO post the spiderman cake anywhere, so that people can see the bad work. Even your employee felt embarrased at the cake presented, and I too have pictures of it. please, instead of trying to make a loyal customer look bad,, someone should work hard at customer service experience, as, basing from other reviews, isn't the greatest. If you think tinted green eyes on a white eyed spiderman cake, a drop of tint in one eye, a photocopied mouth instead of frosting teeth like the pic I sent, a crooked and sloppy frosting isn't t bad, then what can I say. Either way, what happened happened,I appreciate the apology, Thanks for the reply, enjoy your day. Ordered a kid cake, personalized. Sent the picture to their email, they wouldn't reply often, i often had to call the store. I sent them the image and paid for it 4 days before the date requested. I drove 1/2 hour for the cake, saw it, it is packed with flaws, and sloppy. I told the person in the store to take a look at what they did to the cake and to compare the pic I sent to the final product, its BAD. She too agreed that the cake wasn't decorated well at all. It was SLOPPY. I had paid ahead 70+dlls. After making a call the response from mgmnt was either take the cake at full price still, or leave the cake and we'll give you full refund!!! I need the cake bc of the event being in 4 hours!What would they do with the customized kid cake anyway???!!!. After a while another response came in, and at that time they were willing to give me 20 dll credit. The girl at the establishment was supernice in trying to find the solution even though the ones that should've offered one quickly was the owner, or the "decorator". So disappointed. Still overpaid for this so called cake, but at least they considered a credit. Honestly the experience for this was horrible and un professional. Im just glad their employee was willing to find a solution. Even she felt embarrased and bad at the outcome. Used to be my favorite cake place, NEVER AGAIN will I place an order for customized cake. Nobody from their mgmnt eve apologized for the bad moment.
This cake shop has some of the best cream cheese frosted cakes ever! They have such a wide variety of cakes to choose from oreo, mango, caramel, banana, etc. My family always buys their cakes during special occasions. Definitely recommend!
I recently purchased the Mango cake and was disappointed and surprised. I had tried the Mango cake once before and it tasted delicious, But the cake I recently purchased was VERY DRY and the mango was SOUR. It had more cream cheese than actual Mango chunks. Perhaps, the day I placed the order the bakers were not feeling it. I called the shop and nothing was done on their part, just that they would look into it but my experience was already ruined. Overall, the DRYNESS of the cake is what makes me give Capricious Cake Shop -Pharr two stars.
Asked for a wedding cake for 120 to 100 people. Great cake at still enjoying it right now!
I love their yogurt cake!!!!!! But they never have it?!?!? They told me on Tuesdays, they have buy one get one free slice... But they hardly have any slices. I have gone in 2 weeks in a row, just wanting a slice but they just had 1 slice?!?!? They should at least a better selection on Tuesdays? Believe me the cakes are delicious but how are you supposed to sell without any selection? Both times I left with nothing and the young boy that is there doesn't even apologize. Why even offer selling slices when you never have any?!?!?!?
What a place! The staff is extremely friendly and the cakes are to die for! Today I tried the Bubulubu, and I fell in love with it. It's creamy and perfectly sweetened. It's not the kind of cake that is overwhelmingly sweet. You simply can't stop eating it. They get 5 stars from me for overall experience!
I placed an order for strawberry charm days in advance and my cake was not ready, because the cashier forgot to place my order! However, the owner was extremely polite and found an instanuous solution and still walked out as a happy customer.
