Caran Ebert, CPA -- Tax Guru, Business Mentor, Muse
My accounting career began in high school as part of a program that allowed students to work half day through Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA). After high school, I wrote training manuals for HUD apartment managers, wrote accounting programs for the Department of Water Resources, worked in the sales and use tax appeals department for the Board of Equalization, and as a tax auditor for Franchise Tax Board where I was part of an elite group hired to revise and streamline procedures for auditing individuals and other entities that file income tax returns. I ventured out on my own more than 30 years ago with a concept of a mail order tax preparation/consulting business and a concept of flat fee billing. I did not charge by the hour because I saw how clients were more worried about the fee than providing adequate information to make sound business decisions. By working in an open network, I have a wealth of hands-on knowledge that has taken many of my clients from starting a business in the garage to making millions of dollars today. I have taught for the community college system in Nevada and currently teach and mentor for Small Business Administration programs to teach how to start a business as well as write business plans for grants and loans. I can promise that my small town attitude and business demeanor will not leave you reeling when discussing your business and money matters. Email and posting messages on this page are the best way to contact me.
