I want to say thank you to Doctor Kelly and her staff for the great work that they are doing. The nurse is so professional and always returned calls in a timely manner while Dr. Kelly took time to discuss and assist with my medical situation. Thank you.
My son-in-law came in as a patient. He saw Elizabeth Mick NP-C what ever that means. She did blood work on him and his blood work came back with terrible results, showed infection in his whole body. She called him back and said I will call you back we might need to hospitalize you. She NEVER called back!! I know medical staff are overwhelmed since Covid and I thank them tremondustly for all their hard work. However people are suffering with other medical problems. He is in the hospital now with no help from Elizabeth Mick. Shame on you for not following through with a patient.
The front desk staff are always extremely rude. They always have an attitude whether it’s over the phone or in person. Almost every time I try to call I can’t get ahold of someone because they’re never at their desk then forced to leave a voicemail and call never returned. Never brought back time of appointment…I understand a little delay but not 30 minutes or more. Nurses and Dr. are good, but the customer service sucks! Wish there was another close by, I would go there instead.
We have had excellent care from the physicians, PAs and nurses at Carilion Family Medicine in Daleville. We have always been able to get a “sick” appointment when needed and our phone calls to the nurse line are returned promptly. The staff is friendly and efficient and the time spent in the waiting room is usually minimal. I highly recommend this practice!
Have been going here for years mainly because all of my daughter's records are with Carilion. I personally go maybe once a year. I'm at risk for colon and throat cancer. Went in to be referred for colonoscopy and EGD as polyps were taken out last scopes. Waited SIX MONTHS for a referral, but was told this up front so that wasn't the big deal. What I found out, six months later, was only colonoscopy was referred. Called nurse line right away to see if EGD could be added to the procedure can be done. Just a quick call to insurance for referral because of the risk. No return call. Had colonoscopy ONLY several days later. Called nurse line back, a week after my last call, and left another message. It's now been 4 days and no call back, even though message says 24 hours. I am on edge about the scare of cancer and I don't even get a courtesy call back to give me any updates, or what i need to be doing to get an EGD done?? IF my call should not have been to the nurse line then AT LEAST CALL ME BACK and tell me that! Now what? Wait another 6 months to get another scope appointment AFTER I get someone to call me back??? Assuming I will get someone to call me back? 3 stars because most trips have been pleasant. The sick walk in between 830 and 1030 have been horrible. Took daughter in one time and they would not see her because the symptoms did not fit the criteria for walk in. Took her to ER and she was admitted for a serious condition and was in for a week!!!! I recently went for a walk in sick visit and was told I was fine and given muscle relaxers......for ear and face pain. The next week I was in excruciating pain and found out had bad ear and throat infection and lost time from work. NOT GOING BACK. TRANSFERRING TO LEWIS GALE, me and all of my family. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. RUN AWAY.
I like Dr Orr and her staff. They are professional, kind, and willing to help as much as possible. They may not become my BFF but, are they supposed to? Their job is to get my medical information so that Dr Orr can examine my complaint and come to a medical decision as to what it is and a plan for treatment. Dr Orr does take her time, or as much time as needed to find the problem. She uses the Rule Out Method, by using a variety of tests and her medical knowledge to come to her medical conclusion. So, she has been correct in her findings.
Excellent staff, kind and helpful. Dr. Polk is excellent and stays abreast of new studies. Listens well too. Staff does excellent job of helping. Melissa went out of her way to copy orders for me at the spur of the moment. Medicine has unexpected emergencies, people wouldn't whine if They were the emergency.
I was desperate for a physician when I moved to Daleville. The existing Carilion, at that time, was not accepting patients. I had to drive to Roanoke to see a doctor that I didn’t particularly care for. She was rude and off putting and was more concerned about my GYN health, etc. I had undergone a complete hysterectomy and was really tired of hearing about it. However, she did discover that I had diabetes and said she could tell from looking at me. She assumed I had metabolic syndrome and was correct. Finally, I found a small practice in Fincastle and started going there. The male physician refused to see me and actually had the nurse tell me that he wouldn’t see a patient that was running from place to place for medicine? WHAT? I was shocked and horrified at the same time. Fortunately, there was a female physician there at the time and she agreed to see me. Again, it was fortuitous, because she discovered I had Stage III Liver disease called ‘NASH’. Shortly after, she left for a Fellowship in Africa. I then saw a Nurse Practioner that was only there for a short while before leaving and was finally seen by the original male physician who had thought I was drug seeking because I needed diabetic drugs, etc. He started off each visit with a very boring, bad joke and finished each visit by telling me to sit in a chair and stomp my feet up and down while watching tv. When my husband began seeing him, he was told the EXACT same thing each visit. This gentleman was a very nice Christian doctor and although I really liked him, I was very concerned about my overall health and knew I needed a younger and more interested physician. My husband actually found Dr. Kimberly Orr at Carilion’s new clinic recently built in Daleville. She was accepting new patients and I immediately got an appointment and I couldn’t be happier. She is a wonderful, warm and thorough physician. She is young which I wanted so I wouldn’t outlive her, but she is extremely knowledgeable. I can talk to her about anything and she will actually LISTEN. She also takes my health seriously and doesn’t belabor the point when I tell her I KNOW what I should be doing, however, sometimes I give into temptation, etc. Although she is young, I have a great deal of respect for her personally and I feel very confident in her opinions. I highly recommend Dr. Orr and the entire practice of Carilion Family Medicine Daleville. It is easy to tell a well run practice by the way staff treats you. Everyone treats me with respect and kindness from the people who greet you when you arrive to register, the women in imaging that film my mammograms, the nurses that I communicate with and the women in the lab. I feel blessed that I have found such a wonderful health organization just 5 minutes from home! I have been going there for approximately four years and I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone that needs a competent health team. Doesn’t everyone?
I use to hate coming here when rude no bedside manner Dr. Wheeler was there, thank God she's gone. Now I love the Dr and staff at this place! Clean and relaxing atmosphere. The Dr they have now will listen to what's wrong instead of telling you. Also noticed that the staff is much more relaxed and caring.
Dr. Or doesn't care about her patients, I had a hard fall and hurt my back, went to Lewis Gale ER, they did nothing, called her My family DR. Got an appointment, she said I had a Muscle Sprain....go get some lidocaine patches and take Tylenol, you'll be ok! Did that....still had pain, a week passed I forced another Dr to get me a MRI scheduled...finally got one, not a day later, I was told I had TWO Compression Fractures!!! After the fact, mind you I didn't have surgery for like 3-4 weeks later, she still didn't wanna do anything for pain....what her assistants said.....she doesn't give out pain meds and doesn't believe in it....ok...I get it for people who fake stuff, but when I literally have a broken back, you can't expect a Lidocane patch and Tylenol to help! Dr. Orr just wants to get paid and doesn't help patients! I still go there but I will NEVER see her again!!
