This place is AMAZING!! Been here since the 70's & I've been going here since I was a kid/young teen in the 90's-00's. I would play outside while my step-dad Troy would work off his meal in the kitchen for Carmen RIP! Amazing place, amazing people, & delicious, affordable food!! Please check it out, support it, & help keep the legacy alive through these trying times!!
Amazing place. Just happened across it after fishing one day and glad I did! Great prices, very friendly ownership and staff. Definitely a hole in the wall, so don't expect fancy, but if you are looking for great food at a great price, this is your place!
Great place to bring the family. The owner/cook was really friendly and ask if we wanted to play chest with him. The menu is very inexpensive. I paid less.than $40 for 5 people including drinks. Chips are self serve and include salsa, beans, cheese, and a lot of other toppings. I understand that place has been in business since the 70's. Food was made from scratch and was very delicious.
To Go Review: The place doesn't have the best looks from the outside, but the inside is welcoming and spacious. They have partial outdoor seating as well as a fully inside. The owner was very friendly and helpful. We got the mix plate, with all things pictured for $7.50 total. They have the typical fixings jalapenos, spicy salsa, onions limes etc there available to pack for to go, as well as a station with a variety of chips to take as you want. Just keep in mind they stay out in the open so they may be stale. Not a big deal but nice that they offer it anyway. The tostada was tasty, as well as the enchilada, beans and tamale. The taco was basic and the rice was a little on the bland side. Overall, I can't complain because it's a great value.. very worth the price and the owner is very kind, so go support and give them a try!
Home made rice and beans and simple food plates. I appreciate everything about this place. From the owner’s hospitality to the simple self serve of chips, salsa, queso and drinks. It’s not your typical restaurant though…so if you are looking for wait staff, it’s not for you. What you will get is an honest owner keeping his momma’s place alive. Just walk through the door, go to the window with the menu over it and the owner will pop over to take your order. While you wait, go grab your chips, salsa and drinks and have a seat. It’s a great experience. I even had the pleasure of conversing with Mack and getting to know him better.
Very cozy place family oriented. Food was delicious must stop there to eat. They have your own chips and salsa serving with nacho cheese and pinto beans. The salsa are on the side and you pour your own drink. The price are very affordable we got 5 plates plus drinks it was $36. They have a big table to eat and 4 additional seating. For desert you can get a free leche quemado candy. The chef will give you the history of that place.
Just flat good. The heavily-life-experienced man behind the counter was a highlight. Best pricing in the area, and potential one of the best TexMex placesFood: 5/5
Great owner, great cook and great customer service all in one person. Go on out and see Mack Lingo and enjoy the food.Food: 5/5
Mack just keeping his mother and grandmother's recipes alive, real cooking from a hundred years ago. Authentic tasty and very home style. I was lucky enough to try Carmen's and will be back!!!Food: 5/5
Carmen's is just a charming, quaint wonderful little place on the side of the road. The owner is warm and friendly and so hospitable! He makes his own Salsa both green and red, and I could have made a meal on that alone! The place was his Mother's and he keeps it open in her memory. He also uses a lot of her recipes. As someone else said there is seating inside and in a covered screened in area. I got the enchiladas with rice and beans. I loved the rice, cooked perfectly and just enough tomatoes and spices to make it very good. My dinner was wonderful. I am so glad that I stopped! And super affordable!
