Dr. Barron is an amazing surgeon! He did my ACL reconstruction/distal realignment. He explained everything in detail to me, he treated me like a valued patient and he was comforting. The staff was great and super cool. It sucks when you need surgery but when you have a great resource like this team at least you feel confident in the process. They also took care of me getting my CMP machine. I didn't have to think of a thing before they took care of it. Awesome.
I couldn't say enough nice things about this facility. From the very first phone call for the scheduling and insurance info all the way down to the very last discharge nurse, every person I encountered and spoke with were the kindest people you could ask to be there for you. I never felt like I couldn't ask questions and never felt alone. I had numerous different nurses and Drs involved in my Microdisectomy and they ALL showed care and concern for MY well being! They also took care of my husband just as well as myself during his wait.
I left traumatized. I had a procedure scheduled and made sure that my doctor and the staff knew that I have a crippling anxiety disorder that I take medication for - so the thought of a medical procedure & pain, caused me to delay my procedure and request conscious sedation. I was told the use of conscious sedation was going to cost extra and that the procedure would need to be done at this surgical center, not the regular office. The day of the procedure and I’m shaking, my husband came with me and he can’t calm me down. I informed the first nurse that I saw how scared and anxious that I was. She was very understanding. She put my IV in quickly and pushed IV Demerol pain medication and Versed a benzodiazepine for relaxation and sedation. Side note: I take a benzo daily for my anxiety so the dose of Versed would need to be adjusted to take into consideration my at-home script, which was listed in my health record. I still wasn’t calm after a few minutes of the medication, so she instructed to me communicate with the team if I’m still uncomfortable in the procedure room. Then comes another nurse, who identified herself as the CRNA certified registered nurse anesthetist, this requires an advanced nursing degree, usually a masters but as of recently requires a doctorate in nursing, she was an older lady who volunteered her age to be in the 70’s. First, it felt like she was rushing. My husband and I could sense it. Second, she was non-therapeutic with her communication by saying things to the affect of if I could get so many tattoos, I should be able to handle a small procedure. Nurses should never diminish a patient’s pain, and should advocate for them. They transport me towards the procedure room and I am not sedated at all and am very uncomfortable. I’m crying and overall scared; bordering on an anxiety attack. Once inside the procedure room, I informed her, and the team, that I am feeling everything, wide awake, and very VERY uncomfortable; I would like more sedation. She looks up at someone and said no because I’m just going to “cry more”. First, this makes no sense. Post-op crying is a phenomenon that occurs but after general anesthesia being put to sleep, not IV Versed and local lidocaine. Also, she told me I was slurring my words, which I know I wasn’t because I was completely conscious. This was rude. I felt every thing. Every thing. I felt the needle after the lidocaine injection, so they did not inject enough lidocaine OR they didn’t wait for it to numb the area, spoiler; it was probably a little bit of both. The procedure was done and I was wheeled back, still in pain and now completely traumatized. They actually reassessed me post-op, however, no other interventions were offered to me. I was given a coke to drink. I never saw the same nurse twice. They took my IV out, and wheeled me to the car... legit rushed me out. I had to call my therapist after the procedure because of the panic attack I had on the car ride home. Then, 2 days after the procedure, I ended up going to the ER because the pain never subsided. I know the procedure itself falls on the shoulders of my physician. However, how I was treated during the procedure falls on this surgical center. I informed them of my anxiety disorder ahead of time so they could prepare, and told them about the conscious sedation and my expectations about what that meant, and what my physician’s office informed me about it. Overall, I hated everything about how I was treated and rushed out of there. I’m bothered by how the second nurse had the nerve to associate me being heavily tattooed to being tolerant of a medical procedure. They are not the same thing. Also, her denying me the sedation/comforting measures which I paid extra for, and was told to express if I needed more of... blows my mind.. because she was a CRNA, that’s her literal job, to make sure the patient is sedated and comfortable.
My surgeon and a;; the nurses involved in my surgery were 5+ yet the billing department gets a zero. I never received a bill and got a letter threatening to send me to collections. The letter I got didn't even have a complete street address on it. People in billing were rude and unprofessional . Never received a call or email. I guess it is Covid 19's fault.
I had a 2 level laminectomy by Dr. Mark Smith 2 days ago at this center. The only way I can describe it is great little place! They fulfilled all the claims they had made. The staff from the front desk to they gentlemen that rolled me out to my vehicle were great! If it were possible to enjoy surgery it would be here.
This place is amazing. It is a spa compared to having surgery at the Hospital. The staff could not be more kind or helpful. They took the time to discuss in detail all of our questions and concerns, and created a truly personalized approach to my procedure. It is abundantly clear that a good patient experience is their top priority.
