The CC Pet Foster Collaorative understands the unique bond between animals and their owners. For people struggling with mental health issues, this bond can be life-saving.
Pet owners understand that their animals are important members of their family. For people suffering with mental illness, their pets are sometimes what keep them alive.
When someone is hospitalized and there are no family/friends to care for these animals they unfortunately brought to the local pound where they stay for 6-7 days and if left unclaimed, enter into a rescue organization and labeled abandoned. The client then loses their pet forever. If the person leaves the hospital and comes home while their animal is at the pound, these clients risk losing their pet because they cannot afford the boarding payment required to recover their pet. Both scenarios are tragic events in the lives of our clients struggling with mental illness.
CC Pet Foster allows people struggling with mental illness to have a safe and loving foster home for their pet while they are experiencing a mental health crisis and hospitalized.
This service is open to residents of Caver County only.
We provide our service 24/7 through the support of the Carver/Scott Mental Health Crisis Team
