We LOVE catching Hawkeye Sports, Concerts, etc here. They seem to pack the house for pretty much everything so be prepared for lines. We caught the Women's Basketball Game vs UNI this time. The Band was awesome as usual. The pyrotechnics were pretty cool...& the glitter bombs. I do wish they offered some healthier options for food and had more close parking available. Traffic before and after events can get a little crazy too. All as to be expected for events and venues like this however.
We love attending wrestling duals in Carver Hawkeye Arena. While I would love to have seats closer to the floor, visibility doesn't tend to be an issue. The jumbo screen also helps with visibility when the crowd gets excited, people standing to their feet and block your view. Parking near the arena is not bad. Just be prepared to walk a reasonable distance and then wait to get out when the event is over. Carver Hawkeye is a great place to enjoy sporting events with your family. Go Hawks!
Attended a graduation. Was not allowed to bring in water bottles even though the outside temps were 90 degrees and no air conditioning inside. Otherwise it seemed like a good place for events with pretty good AV system and acoustics.
Fun time! Went to the Iowa vs. Iowa state wrestling meet which turned out to be phenomenal and worth every penny! Iowa won with the last match being a close decision in the heavy-weight class. Food lines looked long, but really weren't that bad. Bathroom lines the same thing. It was kind of hard to get in and out, but that's only because of the light construction going on. It should be done soon, and then everything should be really nice.
View of basketball game was pretty decent. However, concession lines seemed immensely long. Would love to see these services improved. Liked that kids could get paper and crayons or markers to make banners and signs. Having been associated with a successful D1 basketball team and having been at a number of arenas, I thought announcer was too much of a homer. He barely mentioned opponent names when scoring while practically yelling Iowa players name. This is so unlike other arenas I have been too where announcer showed more neutrality when reporting game action.
I went to the Iowa Hawkeye Wrestling Meet at the Carver Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City and rhere were a lot of people there and lots of people we're cheering and that was a lot of fun.
We went for a women’s basketball game, had a great time. Be warned, only small clear bags are allowed in per policy - several people were arguing with security about that. Also, make sure to get an ice cream cone!
Home of our Hawkeyes! The arena's relatively unique design has fans enter from the top of the facility. People who have never before visited Carver are surprised at how far it is to get to courtside! There is only one seating bowl; no upper/lower decks or suite levels. UI Athletics has done a good job through the introduction of some group tables and other premium seating/club options. Security can sometimes be frustrating, as not all prohibited items are listed on the arena's A-Z guide, meaning you may get there potentially having driven for hours, parked in an outer lot, and walked for 15-20 minutes only to discover that something seemingly normal to take into an arena isn't allowed. I experienced this once, and was frustrated that the security manager gave me multiple stories rather than a straight answer; she kept blaming others, though no one in particular, and referring to an internal document unavailable to the public before attending a game. Hawkeye fans can get loud when the team is on a roll; I recommend a visit to Carver for all Big Ten fans. Go Hawks!
Nice, good people to work with and great opportunity to fund raise for schools music programs and colorguard programs. Love these people so much. Clean environment, fantastic food.
Always a fun vibe and clean environment! Accessible.
