Squire Valleevue and Valley Ridge Farms.
The University Farm, which is comprised of Squire Valleevue and Valley Ridge Farms, is a beautiful 389-acre property that features forests, ravines, waterfalls, meadows, ponds, and a self-contained natural watershed. Owned by Case, the farm is the site of several buildings designed for educational, research, and recreational purposes. It is open and available to all students, faculty, staff, and alumni of Case Western Reserve University.
The goal of the University Farm is to enhance and complement the university's mission of education, research and community service through its unique natural settings, history and cultural features. The farm also supports and enhances additional university community activities, including athletics and recreational events.
As of summer 2012, the University Farm has begun to sell its produce to the CWRU community via Farmers Markets and CSAs. Farmers markets are held on a crop-available basis throughout the winter and early spring months (usually once or twice a month), and then pick up to a weekly schedule for the summer and fall.
The market features the chemical-free produce hand grown and hand picked at University Farm, as well as a variety of handmade wooden kitchen items, like trivets, cutting boards, and cheese platters, and more outdoor-enthusiast type items like walking sticks. Seasonally, the Farmers Market offerings include holiday evergreen swags and wreaths, pinecones from the Farm, decorative grasses, and branches from Red and Yellow Twig Dogwoods.
Cookbooks and Farm History books are also for sale, and 2013 will see the addition of pressed flower stationary from the Farm's flora.
