This is the wonderful place and must visit when you arrive at Portofino. Just 10 minutes walk along steps and narrow alley with well maintaining to reach the castle and nice cafe at the top of the cliffs where you can see the whole city of Portofino. No admission fee.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Overviewing Portofino from Castello Brown is perhaps one of the must-do while visiting the place. It has been 30 years since our last trip to Portofino and it is grateful that we revisit the place with a different prospective in life. A little effort of walking up the hills from the port, Castello Brown, 10 Euro per entry, offers some valuable history recap of the fishing village. Quiet and tranquility - a fine light strolling place including to the other end of the side - the light house.
From the moment you set foot inside Castello Brown, you are greeted with a sense of awe and wonder. The castle's well-preserved architecture, combined with its elevated position, provides visitors with panoramic views that are simply unparalleled. The sight of the azure waters of the Ligurian Sea blending harmoniously with the colorful buildings and lush greenery is a sight to behold. The castle's interior is equally captivating, as it takes you on a journey through time. Each room is adorned with elegant furnishings, period artworks, and historical artifacts, all meticulously curated to reflect the castle's rich heritage. As you explore the different chambers, you can almost imagine the tales of knights, nobles, and seafaring adventurers who once graced these very halls. One of the highlights of visiting Castello Brown is the impeccably manicured garden. The terraced landscape is a visual feast, boasting vibrant flowers, fragrant citrus trees, and meticulously trimmed hedges. This oasis of tranquility offers numerous benches and shaded areas where you can sit, relax, and soak in the breathtaking surroundings. It's an ideal spot to take memorable photographs or enjoy a picnic with loved ones. It is important to note that due to the castle's hilltop location, there are some steep paths and staircases to navigate. While this might pose a challenge for individuals with mobility issues, the enchanting experience awaiting you at the top is undoubtedly worth the effort.
Castello with a super beautiful view of Portofino - you should make the effort of the uphill walk Extremely nice surroundings, full of greenery. However, interiors are very modest and there are only photos of famous guests or historic moments of Portofino in most of the rooms. Entrance fee is 5eur.
The castle is situated very steep into the hills near portofino. It is for sure worth the climb. The entrance fee is 5 euro but the views from the top are worth it. Eat and drink before going up, because you can only find basic refreshment and very limited snacks. I really enjoyed the climb and breathtaking views. When I book my next trip to Portofino I will be visiting again!
The Castello Brown is located on the top of Portofino. The castle was built by the architect Giovanni Maria Olgiati. It has belonged to the Brown Family before. It’s a museum now and you can find some historical objects inside. And there is also a good view from the top to the Portofino Yacht Marina. The entrance is 5€ per person and there is a lot of stairs to go up.
The castle has the most beautiful views of Portofino. It’s worth the steep trail up to the castle. There’s a small bar with drinks and snacks. And some cool old photos of American celebrities visiting Portofino.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Mostly because of this Castel and the view you have to visit Portofino , it’s incredible place and panarama , also nice bar near to the castel
If you don’t want to go in because of the 5 euro price, pay it and you will not be disappointed. It offers the best view of the scenic town, while also offering a bit of history and touring. Made the whole vist to portofino so much better and the 5 euro price compared to the rest of the towns tourist prices is a steal. Visted on a Thursday in mid July and had no crowds
I think the view of sea/portofino is nicer than the castel. The entrance is 5€ but nothing special. Its true the price is reflecting whats insideVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
