An off-leash dog park located off of the Owensboro Greenbelt adjacent to the Heartlands Subdivision, at the end of Byers Ave. A fenced public park where citizens and their dogs can play together, exercise and socialize safely. Off Leash parks promote responsible dog ownership and support public health as companion pet ownership has been proven to promote physical and mental health. Dog parks are being established all over the country and offer a wealth of benefits to dogs, dog owners and the community as a whole.
The City of Owensboro has reserved a piece of Yewell’s Heritage Park to the east of the bypass, located at the end of Byers Avenue to the rear of the Heartlands subdivision and the City has ensured it will maintain the park.
Community volunteers are working to raise the funds and in-kind donations to construct fenced areas for small dogs and a separate area for medium and large dogs, shade, seating and water fountains for owners and pets.
