CBS Television City

Description

CBS Television City, alternatively Television City, is a television studio complex located in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles at 7800 Beverly Boulevard, at the corner of Fairfax Avenue. Designed by architect William Pereira, it is one of two CBS television studios in southern California — the other is CBS Studio Center, located in the Studio City section of the San Fernando Valley, which houses additional production facilities and the network's Los Angeles local television operations (KCBS and KCAL). Since 1961, it has served as the master control facility for CBS's west coast television network operations; prior to that, it was based at Columbia Square. The company's West Coast radio production center is located more than a mile away to the south, in the Miracle Mile neighborhood.Since its inauguration in 1952, numerous TV shows have been broadcast live or taped at Television City, including many shows not broadcast on CBS. Many films have also been produced in part at Television City, such as the 1996 feature That Thing You Do!, starring Tom Hanks and Liv Tyler. During the opening credits of many of the shows taped here, a voice-over announced the phrase "from Television City in Hollywood". The complex currently houses a total of eight separate studios. Backstage tours infrequently take place, with the guests being escorted by a CBS page.

"The TVC 2050 Plan is a $1+ billion investment in the iconic Television City, modernizing its production facilities, creating thousands of jobs, and celebrating Los Angeles’ status as the creative capital of the world."

COVID Testing required 24 hours before entering. Vaccination cards and masking as well as social distancing observed. Masks off only during taping of show or to drink water. Had a GREAT TIME!
I was able to take a few pics outside of the CBS Television Company entrance and around the building. This was Labor Day Weekend and the area was quiet. A guard advised me of no entry for visitors at that time, yet he chatted with me for a moment.
Iota staff & security at entrance were amazing people. Finally got tickets after years to one show. Fun experience, but be sure to record at home. You miss a lot in the studio or may be blocked by cameras.
This used to be THE network to watch. Many historical shows were produced there. They never had any regular tours. People lining up for Price Is Right sometimes saw actors going into buildings. TVC was sold, and over the next decade, there will be new buildings added, however, the Tiffany network is gone forever!
Great place if you want to do real live TV they can do everything from bill the set to put on the show all in one place. Great bunch of people like family.
