Benefits of Tae Kwon Do
Health:
Tae Kwon Do is great for all aspects of a person’s health. Tae Kwon Do helps with coordination, flexibility, and conditioning, making it a perfect activity to supplement any other sport a student wishes to participate in. With obesity at an all time high in children, Tae Kwon Do is a fun way to control weight, tone, muscles, and increase energy.
Social:
Tae Kwon Do is a terrific way to make and build strong friendships. Tae Kwon Do emphasizes helping and encouraging one another to do their best.
Sport:
There are literally hundreds of tournaments throughout the United States and the world where students can compete in Tae Kwon Do. The USAT and AAU are just two organizations that hold many regional and national Tae Kwon Do tournaments. Throughout the year you can find tournaments in Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Bettendorf, Des Moines and many others.
Mental:
While Tae Kwon Do is excellent for helping strengthen a person’s body, it is equally helpful in strengthening the mind. Part of learning Tae Kwon Do is studying its history and philosophy. Tae Kwon Do also requires a great deal of memorization and concentration, helping kids to creatively and constructively develop and use their brain.
