I had a laceration. Checked in at 3:30 PM. Everyone was courteous. Was taken back for triage within 15 minutes, then waited about 4 hours for more thorough treatment. That wait time is too long, especially since my wound was not even cleaned at triage. Once I was actually seen, Dr. Cook took good care of me, however it was too late to thoroughly clean the wound because of how it was healing.
My son and I came into the emergency room for a rash and some other issues, nothing too serious! But we were still treated like our care mattered! The nurses, Doctors, and all staff here have been SO SO SO amazing, helpful and kind! Best hospitality we've received! Ever!!!
I recently was brought here by ambulance because I passed out and had a laceration on my head. The laceration needed to stapled up which they did. After falling asleep due to whatever reason, dazed from fall, exhaustion from a demanding job, tired, possibly put under?, I’m not sure I awoke. I explained to them I was ready to go and they said wait a little bit so did. I did not have any of my belongings. I asked to go to the bathroom. They came back with a cup and told me I’m not allowed to sit up or leave my bed. After explaining to a nurse named hunter, a female nurse who’s name I don’t remember, and another male nurse who’s name I don’t remember I will find the out the other two nurses names , that I can’t urinate sitting in a bed. I also explained that I can’t go with everyone watching me and need to be escorted to the bathroom. They refused. They insisted I can’t go anywhere or move out of my bed. After going back and fourth for at least an hour, I explained that I didn’t want any more treatment, I want to leave against medical advice, and I’ll call myself an Uber or a ride, they said I couldn’t. I asked for my phone and they would not give it to me. I try to get up and leave and next thing you know I’m being held down by the 3 nurses from above and 3 security officers. They proceed to tranquilize me at least 6 times. They were putting so much pressure on my body, it was painful. I could feel one of my feet being bent in a way it wasn’t supposed to. I wake up the next morning and was being asked all these questions as soon as I awake. I answered them and still was not able to leave. They told me now I’m on a hold for 72 hours. I still wasn’t aloud my phone upon asking. My father had to come in and ask them for it and they willingly obliged. After another 24 hours in there I was finally aloud to leave. They told me I wasn’t aloud to leave for 72 hours earlier and it’s only been a little over 24 before they released me. Upon leaving I realized my foot was in immense pain. It wasn’t in any pain upon entering the hospital. I walked on it before the ambulance came and picked me up when I was talking to the police. This was by the far the worst medical treatment I ever received. I felt more imprisoned then cared for. I highly advise everyone stay away from this hospital and I recommend you or your loved ones request to go to Bedford. Please.
Came to the er from home this evening with chest pain, dizziness, left shoulder pain, and nausea. Had an ekg, iv and labs done at triage. Seen by telemedicine doctor at triage. As of now its been 2 hours with no repeat labs or ekg. Have told triage my symptoms are worsening...still in the waiting room. I hope that I am not having a heart attack! Terrible place! Smells like a bus station as well.
Dr. Cook was attending E.R. doctor. I needed insulin. My sugar was almost 500. Fedx had not delivered as promised. I was throwing up sick my sugar was so high. They gave me "fluids" to bring my sugar down??? I needed insulin. After four hour's they give me insulin AND Phenergan shot for nausea and sent me home. I WAS DRIVING 17 MILES ON PHENERGAN. I had to pull over twice bcuz of falling asleep at the wheel. I filed a complaint with HR and received a bogus letter. Employees told us to go to Farmville or Grenta E.R. next time. Worst "emergency room" on the planet. Dr. Cook should have his license revoke. What a dangerous man and hardly a doctor at all.
My daughter and I have been sitting in the ER since 3 pm and it's now 7:34 pm. Came in because she was knocked unconscious 9 days ago with head trauma. Today she had a massive headache and clear fluid running from he nose which could be cerebral fluid. Waiting for a CT scan to see what's going on with her head. This is absolutely ridiculous. What is going on with this hospital??
I don't know about the emergency room but if you have to stay there it is a joke they have traveling nurses and my husband would have died if I hadn't stayed there all night to make sure he was drinking his liquids after a surgery like he was supposed to they were supposed to get. Him up and walk didnt if you dont have enough staff then pay better so you do
dear god we waited 3 hours to be seen for a SMALL issue that required maybe stitches and a tetanus shot and we didn’t even get seen! there were people there that hadn’t been seen and had clearly been there all day. one woman was talking about how she had a stroke and she hadn’t even been seen by a doctor at like 10 pm they stopped even calling patients back to triage and 3 or 4 nurses just stood around talking and laughing at patients. i don’t even think they’d notice if someone died in there. the care was HORRIBLE. we only had enough gas to make it there but next time: we’re going to charlottesville instead of lynchburg’s horrible excuse for a hospital
This place SUCKS!! They were supposed to know what neutropenic precautions were and to get those patients into a room to start antibiotics but instead talked to me like I was crazy, told me I could not tell them what they were supposed to do and that my husband had to wait like everybody else so I said “Never mind, I’ll take him to UVA” the male nurse actually did a song-song “okay” and turned and walked away!!
Had a great experience. Dr. and nurses were very kind and patient and helped calm me down when I was struggling. Was seen quickly and taken care of well.
