Redefine your classroom.
In today's world, knowledge of other languages and cultures, and the ability to move gracefully within those cultures, has become an asset - if not a pre-requisite - for success in just about every walk of life. There is no better way to gain an understanding of another culture than by immersing yourself in it. The Center for Global Education offers semester and year-long, culturally immersive, credit-bearing, College-affiliated programs all over the globe for every field and major.
In keeping with Gettysburg College's mission to foster global thinking and to instill a compassionate respect for others and for our world, the Office of Off-Campus Studies encourages all members of our campus community to become citizens of the world. We work toward this goal in the following ways:
We develop, operate, and maintain comprehensive international and domestic off-campus programs. In cooperation with our academic departments, we encourage our students to understand the importance of culture, religion, ethnicity, and the histories of many different peoples;
We serve as advocate and catalyst for global education by promoting the study of language and culture and by supporting global dimensions in our curricular and co-curricular programs;
We help our students prepare for and engage in varied global experiences, and integrate them into their lives at Gettysburg College. Our ultimate goal is to educate our students in such a way that they become sensitive leaders in our changing world.
