After moving back to SC I had to find a primary care physician as well as pain management. I opted to have Dr Gupta be both . After being in the hospital for 7 days and having to reschedule my appt Dr Gupta then proceeded to not refill my prescriptions that I have been on for 10 plus years. I have a laundry list of different Diagnoses that Dr Gupta chose not to prescribe my medication’s therefore throwing my entire health at risk . Today I’m the office instead of refilling my normal medications he offered to give me Fentanyl as opposed to hydrocodone I refused then he wanted to put me on Dilaudid what kind of Dr tries to put you on these medications? When I told him I was going to do this review he stormed out of the room saying if I gave him a bad review he would give me a bad review I asked if he was threatening me as he went into the office across the hall and he slammed the door. I would not recommend this Dr as he does not have a patients health history first and foremost. I have never in my 55 years been treated so badly by a physician. I will be filing a formal complaint with the SC Medical Board and I highly suggest that any other patients that have been treated this way by this so called Physician to do the same.
First visit and I couldn't be more at ease. All around great experience from check in to check out. Dr Gupta was very caring and interested didn't rush through. So thankful I didnt rush to decide on a pain Dr !!!
Dr. Gupta abandoned his patient 48 hrs before a follow-up appt for medication refills without regard for the patient's health. He gave no reason & failed to provide a replacement physician which is legally required, while his patient was receiving ongoing treatment. This abandonment resulted in the patient having to suddenly cease this medication, which resulted in the patient's condition getting worse. He also falsely put into the patient's chart that they abused their medication. This lie made it impossible for the patient to find adequate follow-up pain management care on their own. That patient was me. I'd been in pain management care under a different doctor due to hurting my back while working in home healthcare for several years prior to seeing Dr. Gupta. But I moved & the doctor I'd been seeing was too far away. My previous doctor had prescribed 15mg oxycodone 3x/day for me to take as needed, for 3 years and then lowered the dose to 5mg oxycodone 3x/day, because I didn't need such a high dose. I never misused the medication, I didn't take too many or give them away, & many days I only needed 2 pain pills, not 3. But bc there were still days when my pain was bad enough to use all 3 pills, my previous doctor still prescribed the 3/day and knew that I would have extra at my pill count. I had been on that dose for quite a while before moving and changing doctors. This is when I found Dr. Gupta and started seeing him. He wasn't comfortable prescribing oxycodone, which was fine. I didn't care what the medicine was, I just wanted some help with the pain. So Dr. Gupta prescribed 7.5 Vicoprofen 3x/day, which I took for several months with no problems. I didn't always take the full daily dose, I took them as needed. So my pill count would be off, but to the good. I wasn't missing any pills. I also have short-term memory loss from a migraine-induced mini-stroke, made worse by a migraine preventative I take. So I frequently forgot to bring my medicine and I'd only have a few with me I kept some in my purse in case I needed one while I was out, the rest were at home. Then, 2 days before an appt with Dr. Gupta, his office called me, said they needed to cancel my appt. I said ok & asked when they were going to reschedule it. The girl said they weren't, that Dr. Gupta was no longer going to continue treating me. I asked why. She said there was no reason listed in my chart but she'd ask & call me back. She never called back. I called them several times and left multiple polite messages asking simply for: 1. a reason why I was being dropped as a patient 2. one last appointment to refill my medication, giving me 30 days to find a new doctor and get an appointment, and 3. a referral to another pain management specialist so there was no lapse in my care. They never called me back, never refilled my medicine, and never referred me to another doctor. So I was literally medically abandonedgrounds for medical malpractice lawsuit while on narcotic medication AND he put false information in my medical records that I was unaware of until I had to have a surgery done and the doctor, a very nice man, put in the notes that he had discussed using narcotics with me since I had a history of abusing them. This information was, as you can imagine, quite shocking to me because I still have some pain pills left from when Dr. Gupta prescribed them to me over 5 years ago! Pretty sure someone who "abuses narcotics" wouldn't hold onto them when they live in pain every day, telling themselves "don't use it unless you have to, the pain can get worse than this". I have muscle spasms/sharp, stabbing pain in my back/legs that wake me up at night & makes walking/sitting/driving very hard. And I still can't work. I recently started having lumps appear randomly on my spine that, when touched, trigger shooting back/leg pain & weakness/numbness in my legs. I've had to wait 2 mos for a new pt appt w/ a neurosurgeon & can’t get an MRI before then, bc I don’t have anyone managing my back pain, thanks to Dr. Gupta abandoning me. PATIENTS BEWARE!
Rude doctor interrupting what I was trying to say after I told him I was having surgery on a ciatic nerve he still wants to do a nerve test and told me My MRI was good but it wasn't
Dr. Gupta is a very good doctor and his staff is great as well!!!
He listened to me but didn't hear what I was saying. Made his diagnosis without looking at my X-rays or MRI. Treated me like I was there to get drugs which I wasn't. I never asked him for any medicines. Lectured me on getting my stress level under control which I told him I was doing. I hope I never have to go back to him.
Awesome staff. The ladies are always very nice and professional. Dr. Gupta is always friendly and helpful
I was a new patient who was hesitant after reading the reviews about even going to my appointment and I’m happy I did!! The doctor was really nice he talked to me asked me questions to determine the best treatment for me!! I’m not sure what doctor you’ll are referring to with some of these reviews but it’s definitely NOT Dr Gupta!!! His staff was amazing also if I could give him 10 stars I absolutely would have!!!
Do not go to this doctor for pain,I had wrote an honest review and he erased it.Please read his reviews.Mines was to honest but he managed to erase it rather then call me and apologize for how he made me feel and treat me.Don’t erase reviews because there honest.
Unprofessional behavior is his standard. Always let his bad mood out on innocent and friendly patients, even when in pain, they keep keep it together, staying friendly to him. Just shows a pure carelessness from a doctor, who supposed to be a caregiver!
