With the help of volunteer blood donors, Central Illinois Community Blood Center provides life-saving blood to patients of 19 area hospitals in central and southwestern Illinois.
Established in 1971, Central Illinois Community Blood Center, a not-for-profit organization, is the provider of blood for 19 hospitals throughout central and southwestern Illinois.
In July 2010, Central Illinois Community Blood Center merged with Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center based in Davenport, Iowa. Together MVRBC and CICBC provide blood products and services to 85 hosptials throughout Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and Wisconsin. The main lab in Davenport handles more than 240,000 components of blood per year.
