I was so excited when I heard Joplin was getting an Indian Restaurant. I have gone there twice an feel I can give it a review now. The people running it appear to be very nice people and are trying to make it a go and to be accommodating to their customers. There are a few things I noticed though. One is the menu is one page and very limited. Many of your favorite dishes may not be on the menu. It claims to be Indian Asian but it in no way compares to Desi Wok in Tulsa. Their location is besides Rumor's Lounge in the same parking lot as Woody's Wood Fired Pizza. This location may be hurting them but I am sure that the rent is cheaper than other areas of town. When I came into the restaurant they provide cheap corn chips with mint chutney which is a combo I have never had at an Indian or Asian restaurant before. The food takes some time to be prepared but it is pretty good. The first time I came they were busy and I waiting an hour for my food but this last time it was only about 10-15 minutes. The first time I ordered the combo plate and some of the items were not hot and I was told it was because the cook prepared that dish first. Everything had a good flavor though. This time I had the chicken biryani and it was excellent although served on a waxed paper on a regular ceramic plate. By the end of the meal the paper was tearing apart and causing issue. The food was very good but could have been presented a little better. I am not certain why it would be on the paper other than keeping the dish cleaner. I will go back and I hope they improve as time goes on. We really need an Indian Restaurant in this town. I hope they make it and expand the menu and have descriptions under the menu items. Many Americans are not familiar with the names used and do not know what to expect from the dish. The person waiting on me asked me if I knew what I was ordering after I ordered it. I did know what I was wanting but it may be overwhelming for beginners to decide what is what. I am accustomed to being served raita with my biryani and when asked if they had any he stated they had some yogurt in the back and could make some for me if I wanted them to. BTW the naan does not come with the meal. It has to be ordered. Overall the food was great and the owners are great but there could be some improvements made over time. I hope they do well and last a long time in this area. It is the best Indian restaurant in Joplin but it is also the only Indian restaurant in Joplin. I hope it gets to the level to compare to my favorite places in Tulsa, KC area and Springfield.
The decor and facilities are, for the moment, somewhat lacking. This is a new business in an area sorely in need of more diverse cuisine, and whatever it may be lacking in aesthetics it more than makes up for with the quality and quantity of food. Talk about value; a colleague and I went last month and, despite being there for almost two hours, left with two full boxes. The spice level was intense, but not insurmountable. The menu was very friendly to anybody unfamiliar with Indian cuisine. I’d highly recommend giving this place a try; your taste buds and wallet will thank you.
The owners/servers were fantastic and even offered to make recommendations for us as it was our first time in their restaurant. We had the family platter and it was a good idea with 4 options to choose. The vegetarian okra masala was fantastic! We plan to go back soon, with friends. Yum!
My wife and I have made multiple trips to Tulsa and Kansas City to satisfy our Indian food cravings. It's wonderful to have a place in Joplin. Our first trip we let the owner feed us, everything was wonderful. We had the wraps on our 2nd trip, also delicious! Definitely try the Chai Tea at the end of your meal!
Excellent authentic Northern Indian / Pakistani cuisine I'm no expert, but there seemed to be influences from both at a reasonable price ~$12 per seat in my group and no one left hungry along with a very helpful and kind staff. The only downside is the location has so little exposure it took us a moment to find even being in the shared parking lot.
The food was delicious. We had the platter and it was non dairy. The staff were polite and kind. I’m so glad we finally have an Indian restaurant in Joplin.
i was somewhat hesitant. i know what authentic Indian food taste like. I had been to the Noodle on Rangeline/ The food tasted nasty. I got my food home from Charcoal Grill. OMG Holy Greatness. The Chicken Curry was EXCELLENT
Ordered take out and it was prepared efficiently and tasted wonderful. I'm a vegetarian so I was happy to see Palak Paneer and Okra Masala on the menu. The samosas were also great.
With all the great reviews, just had to try it. Poor choice on my part. Only about 8 options on the menu, and the nan was some kind of premade flatbread warmed in the microwave. Avoid this place at all cost.
Fantastic food! Some of the best chicken I've had. Hardworking and courteous staff. Can't wait to try everything on the menu.
