Waitress was extremely rude.made us wait forever then brought out burnt toast!!! Ridiculous
Went here with wife and mother, on a mid Tuesday afternoon. Place was fairly empty, but our service was SLOW takes 20 mins for our wings, then another 20 for the remained of the food -with two salads!. With wings as an appetizer too much BBQ sauce for my preference, we were served our food, which took a long time. But our wing bones were never cleared from the table, so I put them on an empty table next to us. This aside, the portions are huge and food was good. There are beer specials to be had and affordable prices for considering the portion size.
Hostess was rude the moment we walked in! She came back to the table to tell us she was our server. I should have known to walk out then! She got the drink order wrong and our soup was cold when she served it! I asked for a manager and she asked if something was wrong. I said yes, get the manager. I wasn't able to eat a meal in a place that can't even keep soup warm. The manager came over, with our food, and asked how everything was. I told her exactly and that we didn't want the food and we were leaving. She did apologize. But, if you are a manager at a restaurant, you should probably dress nice and not whip your hair back and forth going in and out of the kitchen. I have never seen a manager dress so horribly. We drive over 40 minutes to come to this restaurant, and this one specifically because it's where my husband and I had our first date. What a shame the establishment has gone under. I will gladly take my money else where. So disappointed.
Be prepared for large quantities of food! Excellent place to eat, you get so much food for your order we always need a "doggie bag". The staff are all very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is nice, sports themed. There are tv located all around so you can see one from every angle. The volume is off because each is playing a different sport, but captions are on. They also have a bar for those interested in sitting there. I just have drinks at my table. Would I recommend them? Yes of course and I have done so many times.
Service was very slow. We asked for a table but were told none were available, we both could see open tables but were placed in a booth. It took almost 10 minutes to get someone to our booth to take our drink order milk & an orange juice. We had the buffet brunch. We got back to our booth with our food but still no drinks. I was just about ready to ask for our drinks when the waiter showed up he forgot who ordered what. The food was ok at best. It will be along time before we return if ever.
The Charcoal Grill in Manitowoc recently re-opened after a Management change. Our family visited the restaurant on Sunday 7-5-15 for the Sunday Brunch. Although the selection of food and taste of the food was still very good, we were incredibly disappointed by the change in service that we received and that which we observed being provided to those around us. When we were seated by the host, we then waited over 10 minutes and were never greeted by any wait staff. After deciding to help ourselves to the brunch buffet, we returned to our table and began to eat our food. Nearly another 10 minutes passed while we were eating and never were we greeted by wait staff or offered any beverages. My wife finally went looking for wait staff to get some beverages. The waitress that ended up serving us was obviously NOT assigned our table appeared very frustrated that she had to serve us. Her attitude was cold and very inconsiderate. We also found out that under the "new" management that they have raised the price of the Sunday Brunch almost $5 per-person and that price increase NO LONGER includes milk or soda as it did previously at the lower price! We feel that at that price, any beverage choices should be included. In addition to the poor service we never recognized any member of the restaurant management, which was a big change from the previous management. We had been very appreciative in the past when the manager would pass our table, introduce himself/herself and ask how our experience was. I feel that raising the price and eliminating milk/soda beverages, along with an obvious decline in customer service will prove to be a grave mistake. Many around us appeared to have the same concerns. Word of mouth does travel quickly, especially when the word is NOT good!
The hostess did not tell us that trivia night was going to start at 7:00 when we arrived at 6:00. It would not have been a problem except that our food took about 50 minutes to arrive. Also the New York strip I ordered was well done instead of medium-rare. I did not send it back since I did not want to wait another 30 minutes.
We stopped in for a late dinner on a Monday night not knowing it was two for one hamburger night! There were several varieties of hamburgers among the four of us we tried thee different ones. All were delicious, well prepared and brought out timely. The waitress, who did a great job, tried to sell us the new iced teas so we asked for samples. She brought out three samples. It is under new management, back to corporate, and the place was clean at the end of the day, the food was fresh, and the waitress wasn't worn out but was very glad to serve. I will go again.
The service was outstanding, very friendly and on top of everything. The place was clean, well lit and was over all welcoming. The place smelled real good. But the taste of the food could of been better. The appetizer was too salty. The ribs were okay but a little tough and sauce didn't grab my attention. The chicken was good but the leg I got was very small. I think the chicken was a game hen.
Our party was there 2.5 hours - horrible service. Yes a group of 10, but not overly busy. Took waitress 10 minutes for a glass of water. No bread brought out with meals, eventually brought out as appeasement after sitting for over 1.5 hours with no food. Sticky floors, sticky tables, sticky menus. No apology for poor service and no offer to make good on meal mistakes and long wait.
