Charitable Souls Foundation, Inc. (CSF) is a non-profit organization, which is tax-exempt under §501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. CSF is staffed by seasoned volunteers and serves the Richmond Metropolitan Area.
Charitable Souls Foundation, Inc. (CSF) focuses its efforts on providing services to the underprivileged members of the community. Its mission statement dedicates CSF "to improve the community and the quality of life of its members by identifying shared needs and developing innovative solutions for them."
Since 2000, Charitable Souls Foundation, Inc. (CSF) has collected and delivered sleeping bags to the homeless in order to fill their basic and immediate need to stay warm during the winter months. CSF collects new and gently used sleeping bags as well as purchasing new sleeping bags for the project. On an unannounced designated date and location, the sleeping bags are distributed to the homeless during either a weekend meals or benefits program sponsored by another organization. A total of 2,241 sleeping bags have been distributed to the homeless since the inception of the project.
Since 2003, Charitable Souls Foundation, Inc. (CSF) has delivered gift bags to the residents at Saint Joseph's Home for the Aged in order to bring holiday cheer during the holiday season. The Little Sisters of the Poor operate the facility for the residents, who are elderly poor. The gift bags, which include a requested item, a holiday card created by a student from a local school district and an ornament are assembled for each of the residents. During the holiday season in December, CSF distributes the gift bags by visiting each resident. A total of 480 holiday bags have been distributed to the residents since the inception of the project.
Since 2006, Charitable Souls Foundation, Inc. (CSF) has established an on-site library, distributed books and conducted reading/activity sessions for homeless/at-risk children in order to encourage their desire to read. On a monthly basis, CSF conducts a reading/activity session, which is centered around a theme, and each participating child receives a book with his/her name on it. A total of 449 children have participated in the reading/activity session since the inception. In addition, the on-site library is continuously replenished with books for the children to use. A total of 1,711 books have been distributed to the children since the inception of the project.
