Charleston Bistro, Sweet Shoppe & Wine Bar

Delicious food, friendly service in a historic building. Thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The only thing I can say that wasn't great was price to portion ratio, but aside from that it was an outstanding meal. We had the pork wings, the crab cakes and the shrimp and crawfish chicken. All seemed really well prepared.

This place was simply amazing. The effortless planning with Jake and Luke was a breath of fresh air. Choose this venue and catering for your next event. You will not be disappointed.

Great atmosphere; nicely decorated with an elegant setting. Clean. Dinning was very disappointing. We did have a large group made by reservation, but it took a very long time to get any food. Bread was served- 8 slices for the entite table of about 25 and it was only placed at one end of the table. People were served their entrees at different times, which left people eating cold food because we were waiting for everyone to have food to not be rude. One person got their gumbo then nobody else got food for about another 15-30 minutes. The table was still serving people their entrees when half of the table had been finished already. The quality of the food was just okay. For the price you pay, I don't think the dining is worth it.

Amazing experience with them! I booked here for my wedding and everything was on point! From the food, to the decorations, to the flowers! Everything was perfect and they were so helpful! It is such a wonderful deal for the price. And the venue is exquisite!

A friend and I had lunch there today. I had the Beef Pot Roast which was phenomenal. But we were there for pretty much 2 hours we had to wait awhile before we had to go boxes and the check. I wasn't even able to get a soda refill because it took a long time before she came back so we could ask for the boxes and everything. I think they need more servers so there isn't a wait like this. There didn't seem to be many servers working for the amount of tables at the time. Also the bar table height along with the chairs really aren't short people friendly. We were originally sitting at the bar but when our food came we realized there was no way we could eat at the bar due to the bar being so high up. We felt like little kids sitting at the grown ups table. And for reference I am 5'3".

Server and Host Bre is always sweet. She has always been on point with the orders and recommendations. She makes fantastic brownies located in the bakery as well. Food is spectacular and service is excellent. Love the bistro for a quick lunch. Beef tips are always tender and portions are large.

I found the food to be delicious, me and my wife had the fried crawfish po-boy on the New Orleans style bun. My little girl had the chicken salad sandwich with sweet potato fries. The Establishment is extremely nice and does a good job of paying homage to the old Historic downtown area. The place in general is very clean with a very relaxing atmosphere, the servers are also very courteous and our food came out quickly. I found the prices on the menu both at lunch and dinner to be very affordable for the level of service that you receive here. They have a very delicious looking sweet shop on the side if you're into sweets, we had the cupcakes which I found to be overpriced and tasted like they were a couple of days old. I had to dock them one star because of this because a $3 cupcake that tastes like it's old is unacceptable when you have the likes of Mels Bakery and Sweet Chic in Lake Charles that have yet to be beat in my book. They have a lot more to offer than just cupcakes in there so I can only offer my opinion on the cupcakes, it all appears to be delicious though. Me and my wife were both impressed enough that we will definitely be going back!

I would have given a two except the shrimp cocktail though overblown with wasted items that we didn't eat, and my daughters shrimp poboy were okay though not exceptional at all. MY food on the other hand was horrible. I had the crab cakes they were too bread filled. Coyote Blues has better crab cakes. In addition, we had to wait forever for our food though the place did not seem that busy. I can wait for food if it is worth it. Mine wasn't. I was so hoping for this to be worthwhile. Lastly, our bread was slammed down without even the benefit of bread plates. I had to ask for them. $56.00 better spent elsewhere. And, despite all this I still left a $10 tip. We were there about 1:30 on Friday, June 29th. Had high hopes this would become a regular place to visit was wanting to try the meatloaf and the beef tips as a go to place for lunch while working weekdays . . .

So disappointed!! The place is beautiful - to sit in. Before going, I had read some bad reviews but, decided to give this place a chance anyway. I should have believed the reviews. The drink menu looked perfect for a Friday girl's night out but, they didn't have the ingredients to make half of them flavored vodkas and lemons!. Ordered three different appetizers - bisque, stuffed mushrooms, cajun eggrolls. My friend's bisque was so cold it was the consistency of oatmeal, my mushrooms were cold and about 8 hours from the expiration date and the eggrolls were over fried. NO WAY were we ordering entrees!!! The place was dead on a Friday night.
