Charlotte fire station 12 was opened in Oct of 1961. During this time there were several units assigned here including, a battalion chief, ladder 12 , which was moved to station 16 when it opened, a brush truck, and 2 different tankers. Station 12 has a large response area which includes a mix of residental and commercial and a big chuck of I 77. We have consistantly been one of the top 2 or 3 running companies in the city. Today we adverage 12-14 calls per 24hrs. Last year, 2014 , we were the 3rd busiest engine in the city with just over 4300 calls for service. We currently run a single engine company and are staffed with a 5 person crew and run a 2014 Custom Smeal, carrying 500 gallons of water and 30 gallons of foam and a full complement of eDraulic Hurst tools for vehicle extrication calls. In 2011, Engine 12 celebrated its 50 year anniversary.
