The Charlotte School of Law is an institution of higher learning and values the freedom of speech and academic freedom in order to foster the free exchange of ideas toward the goal of pursuing truth, creating civil debate and establishing a common community for the engagement of learning. This creates a learning environment that allows for freedoms of speech and expression in accordance with the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution
Please be aware, however, that CSL will not tolerate any activity or posting that loses First Amendment protection such as any unlawful, defamatory, or obscene activity or posting. CSL reserves the right to remove any such posting without notice.
So, as good student citizens, out of courtesy and respect, we ask that you be mindful of the following:
• Exercise courtesy and respect, especially in regards to the tone of your posts. Treat our community members with respect just as you would like to be treated.
• Profanity and abusive language are absolutely not permitted.
• It is recommended you never post your address or phone number.
• Your posts should adhere to Facebook’s guidelines.
• Be mindful of the fact that Facebook posts can be seen by potential employers and clients as well as professors and other students.
• If for any reason you harass other members or are unable to abide by these guidelines, or Facebook’s guidelines, you will be banned from the Page effective immediately.
CSL will respond to content if/ when able and/ or applicable. CSL is not responsible for any unanswered posts or inaccurate information.
To the extent that user posts in our social media spaces advance our mission and engage in civil debate, we affirm the presence of free expression. Be aware, however, that specific calls to action such as voting, endorsements or the like will be removed as they do not fit CSL’s nonpartisan stance nor advance knowledge on an issue.
Forums exist within and beyond this platform for a free exchange of ideas. On platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and other public facing mediums, posts and comments that invite debate may be removed and the sender asked to consider one of the many blogs available through our clinics or internal website.
