We are a charity founded on the principle of "doing good with food". From seed to table, we partner with the food service industry to serve others.
Chef Lucas Food is an IRS (501)(c)(3) charity. We were born from the Make-A-Wish of Lucas Hobbs to serve up goodness to others via food truck. Through seed to table partnerships with the food service industry, we seek to strengthen communities and pediatric cancer families through the power of good food!
Lucas wants to share his love of good food and the family meal with the families of pediatric cancer patients, that they may too experience the joy of a stress free, quality meal. We negotiate with restaurants in the interest of charity to provide meals to these families. We cover the costs necessary to release our partners' charitable spirit. Simply put, we connect pediatric cancer families with charitable restaurants that they may enjoy a great culinary experience -- free of charge! Our dollar will go further than those who seek to purchase meals individually from restaurants because we negotiate at scale in the interest of charity on behalf of pediatric cancer families.
Lucas learned that cooking was a great way for him to de-stress during his treatments because cooking is a sensory experience that serves as a creative outlet. Moreover, it offers a way to feel good about life because of the family bond created between those helping cook the meal and those eating the meal. For children battling cancer, cooking can transform worries into a recipe for living. Local chefs curate healthy meal kits for these families and we deliver a culinary experience when it matters most.
Chef Lucas Food partners with MN food trucks to give back to the numerous organizations that serve the greater good in our communities. Whether we use trucks to raise funds for organizations like the Leukemia Lymphoma Society and/or Make-A-Wish of MN, or use trucks to feed those in need, Chef Lucas Food connects MN food trucks to acts of kindness designed to strengthen our communities. As with the restaurant program, we seek to cover the costs to the extent necessary to release our partners' charitable spirit.
