Have Your Vitamin D Blood Levels Checked....
Vitamin D blood levels of 40-60 ng/ml, along with a combined intake of 2,000 international units (I.U.) is recommended. Note: Ingesting foods rich in Vitamin D or supplements won't do much good unless the vitamin is triggered by UV exposure.
Regular moderate UV exposure is the body's most reliable and natural source of Vitamin D. Research clearly shows that indoor tanners have higher Vitamin D levels compared to non-tanners. As a regular tanner, your Vitamin D level most likely will be in the recommended 40-60 ng/ml range.
A general guideline is sun exposure, without sunscreen, of 10-15 minutes a day, with at least 40% of your skin exposed. For the most of us, there simply isn't enough sun exposure for half of the year and not many of us are regularly out in the sun, as the majority of the time is spent inside at work or in our home. Avoid Vitamin D deficiency and use a sunbed year round. (Vitamin D deficiency carries some health risks, including depression, cancer, heart disease, osteoporosis, multiple sclerosis, and type II diabetes.)
