What a great experience! This was the 103, Coastal Cruising course and Paul was a fabulous instructor that took his time and we really felt proficient by the end of the course. The whole course is taught on the water on a beautiful 37’ Beneteau Oceanis. Just going out was such a joy that you barely realize you’re in a class! There were only 3 students plus the instructor so very heads on and personal attention. I feel confident now to go out and sail any costal cruiser from 30-39’ on the Bay. Thanks Paul and thanks Annapolis Sailing School!
What a refreshing break from the urban grind! While visiting from NYC my son enrolled in the teen basic sailing and advanced sailing courses. New skills always good to be handy on a boat, new friends, chill young adult instructors, gorgeous water. Pitch perfect introduction to sailing!
Worth every penny! The class was awesome, so much fun to sail. They made it a point to give us instruction, evaluate us fairly, and make it fun! The instructor was awesome and we had a ton of fun sailing with him and he taught us a lot! They were friendly, informative, and great to work with. The website had great tips to prepare for the class and really emphasized on reading the material first which was very helpful! I highly recommend them and can hardly wait to take my 103 and 104 with them!
I just completed the ASA 101 - Basic Sailor Certified course at Annapolis Sailing School, and it was a blast! It was a great mix of classroom and on the water instruction. The instructors were fantastic and really took the time to make sure that everyone in the class left with a great foundation of basic sailing knowledge and skills. I highly recommend this sailing school and this course for anyone interested in learning how to sail. Also, the location, Bembe Beach on Back Creek, is such nice spot to paddle board, kayak or just relax.
Truly an amazing experience again! Just completed beyond basic sailing, and it was a great class. Our instructor Art was knowledgeable, patient, and reviewed every aspect of the class so that every crew member has a complete experience. They’re no better instructor you could ask for. I would never go to another sailing school having now been there twice. A top level professional organization! Thank you!
What an amazing time with the Annapolis Sailing School this season. Since my I completed my initial training they have really gone the extra distance to tailor a program for my needs and skill level. I am a member of the Keel Boat Club at the premiere level such that I can sail their 30 Catalina. Sailing a boat like the 30 Catalina has been a bucket list item of mine for years and with the help and support of the school, I have been able to achieve this in under a year and a half....confidently, with safety and success in mind. Now I can take my family and guests all over the bay with the school watching over us. Key to this success has been the school manager John Cosby. After my initial 103 training he spent several additional weekend sessions with me on the Catalina to help me gain my confidence before me taking my family out on the boat. His insight to sailing and pleasant disposiiton is perfect for instruction and helps make learning some of the tasks that I found difficult much easier. This was the kind of help that I needed, especially after my surgery last summer that kept me off my feet for six weeks. In fact, John even came to the hospital to visit me, brining me the next course book for cruising. Wow, what a boost to my recovery! I am already looking forward to next season and the free seminars that John offers over the winter. And my next certification course. If you have ever wanted to learn to sail, stop by and see him. Visit with some of the other staff, they are awesome too. Look around the docks and the grounds, its beautiful there. You will find that all together the place is an Annapolis gem!
Annapolis Sailing School is really a 10 star academy. We attended the Beyond Basic sailing course wanting to refine and add to our skills from ASA 101. We could not have been more pleased. Our instructor, Ian, taught us how to hoist and drop the spinnaker sail, when to use reefing and when to apply storm sails. We were drilled individually on each of these components so that everyone on board got equal practice time and we really appreciated that. Also the level of professional instruction was beyond anything that we have experienced. We travelled all the way from Dallas, Texas to go to Annapolis Sailing and we will definitely come back. Thank you, Ian and Brenda, and everyone else!!
THE BEST sailing school! Instructors Carrie and Art are AMAZING
My wife and I both took the 101 Keel Boat course. We learned so much and are now ASA certified giving us the confidence to keep sailing and do it more regularly. Carrie was a great instructor, explaining what need to happen and prompting us into our own correct decisions and maneuvers. Highly recommend anyone looking to learn to sail.
Great experience this week at the school earning my ASA 101 keel boat cert. All of the instructors were highly experienced and they took the time to answer every question that was asked. We had a great time on the water and everyone had a ton of hands on sailing time. The time spent in the classroom, rigging the boats and sailing has added tremendously to my knowledge and confidence.
