Overall, I loved my suite, even though I had to ask for a tub/shower drain strainer when I first moved in. I did not mind paying a little extra for a renovated unit in building #1, since the unit had what appeared to be fairly new appliances. When I submitted maintenance requests, they were filled within a reasonable time frame. Now for the cons: packages were stolen too often, the closet doors in my unit fell off track much too often, the knobs on the closet doors in my unit fell off much too often, and the mag lock/locking mechanism to the main entrance of my building #1 was broken for the majority of the leasing period one year. Since the main entrance no longer required key fob access, the call box was useless and ANYONE could get into my building. Parking and getting to my apartment during the Winter season was a headache because there weren’t enough workers available to plow and salt the parking lots and walkways.
if I could, I would rate it 0 stars. AVOID THESE APARTMENTS!!! I have lived here for 12 years, and at first the place cared and was nice. Residents were nice and it was a good place to be. As time has gone on and they have switched things around, it has gone downhill quickly. Maintenance men and women are the only ones that are nice and care however they never show up to fix ANYTHING. Vanessa and Jessica in the office have the worst attitudes, are rude when you ask for anything, and refuse to deal with renters. It also took 3 months of cold showers, to have our showers fixed, and 3 weeks for our disposal to get looked at when our roommate fixed it a week before. We had a bedbug infestation 6-7 years ago and they would not call exterminators until it reached the offices, and now I have PTSD from it. This place is a horrendous dump anymore. Thank God we are moving at the end of the month.
I’m looking for an apartment soon and every time I try to schedule a tour the leasing office claim they are booked weeks in advance. They don’t accommodate my work schedule. I’m off on Wednesday every week!!!!!! Really??? Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise that I can’t get any information from this place since many of the reviews are frowning upon them. Took it upon myself to just drive around and see the amenities and outdoor areas that are “picturesque “ in a country setting from what they say. The gazebo near the pond was in rough shape. Benches inside were collapsed and trash/ debris was all over the place. They do a horrible job with landscaping. You can’t even see the lake with the weeds around it as tall as a telephone pole. If they can’t keep up with common areas from what guest can see then I’m not worried about seeing what awaits inside the hallways and units. Thank you anyways.
Cons: Drastic rent increases and additional costs/fees at every lease signing. Often very rude office staff and poor communication between office and maintenance staff resulting in poor handling of issues. Very slow to fix community washers/dryers in buildings = difficult to find units to use on laundry day. Laundry card machines broken every other week with long wait times for repair often unable to use cash and/or card one or the other to fill laundry cards. Very slow to fix personal maintenance issues longest wait was 4 months. Closet doors broken and unable to be fixed – old and no longer manufactured. Bathroom with broken tiles, tub with old caulk and long overdue for resurfacing that allows mold to harbor underneath without being able to clean/remove, cheap vinyl flooring with glue overspilling and evidence of old dirty flooring showing. Poor snow plowing in winter – leaves many unable to leave apartment for 1-2 days after large storms. Elevators often smell of pet urine. Have been approached by neighbors about catalytic converters being stolen from their cars in the parking lot over past few months and not getting any help from office staff despite cameras. Upon move-out was charged $371 for tub needing to be resurfaced and dirty toilet despite scrubbing the shower and toilet for literal hours prior to move-out. When I called to ask about charges and explain that the tub, shower, and toilet were in this condition at move-in I was essentially called a liar and told “I’m sorry that you didn’t know how to clean it correctly.” Despite evidence of service requests for tub condition and multiple phone calls with office staff discussing the issue documented months before move-out, I was charged for being forced to live with an embarrassing bathroom with mold for 2 years. Office staff completely unwilling to help discuss and resolve the issue or take any sort of responsibility maintenance staff failing to properly complete notes with description of condition or what was discussed in person. Pros: Thick walls = quiet. Nice gym behind main office that is accessible 24/7. Lots of storage/closets in apartments. Keeps very warm in winter with boiler heating. Close proximity to metroparks.
Worst apartment I've ever lived at . Very strange smells almost like a wet dog that peed on everything . My bathroom was filled with mold , I would accidentally break more of the sink cabinet just by knocking it with my big toe. The kitchen cabinets had mold and would leak water all over the counter tops due to the above unit using their sink . Walls are paper thin so enjoy your neighbors fighting all the time and their alarm clock going off in the morning . Creepy people will ask you for cigarettes throughout the complex parking lot so keep your head down and don't look approachable . I can go on and on but I only lived there for a few months until I escaped so I am extremely sorry to anyone that lives here currently. Alot Better and cheaper options out there . Keep you and your family safe and stay out of this place .
If I could give this place a 0/5 I would. Do not live here ! It is dirty ! They never came to fix anything and if they did it was like pulling a tooth to get them to come out or they’d lie and say they did when you were home and no one showed. My kitchen sink , bathroom sink , tub , fridge , doors all broken. We had a bed beg , cockroach and ant infestation. It took them weeks to treat our apartment for bed bugs to the point where it was so infested and we had to throw away furniture and purchase new stuff. They also never treated for the cockroaches. Horrible management and tried to charge us our security deposit and then some for a couple of stains on the carpet that could easily be fixed by getting a carpet cleaner. We never missed rent which was far too over priced for this dump and is going up almost $300. I cannot stress this enough , DO NOT MOVE HERE !
I wanted to reach out to leave a review regarding one of your staff members. Jessica Vadini is an excellent event coordinator - I have been to a couple of the events that she has planned for the Chestnut Lake community and she always does a wonderful job. Everything is organized really well and the events are a blast. She is super friendly and goes out of her way to go the extra mile.
Brookfield corporation forces their employees to make false 5 star reviews, don't let them fool you. Chestnut Lake doesn't exist anymore, it is truly unrecognizable. Unsanitary, unsafe, illegal and unethical business practices. Don't forget the $75 inflated utility fee.
If I had the option to choose 0 stars, I would. Moving into this place I was so excited! The management teams seemed nice and the apartments also looked nice! However, DO NOT LIVE HERE! They charge you way more than what you should be paying. The individual apartment rooms themselves are cheap! Broken closet doors that were never fixed, broken light switches! Not only that but when I had a lady bug infestation, they told me that it wasn’t their problem. The management needs to be either trained with customer service, or they need to be replaced. I felt like I was in a constant battle with the management office. They don’t care about you, they only care about money, and it shows in several ways.
Zero I helped my daughter move in and we were excited at first. I was surprised at how old the heat registers were and how they weren’t “put together”. I was afraid of a fire. The bathrooms were disgusting. Light fixtures loose, screen and closet doors never repaired after move in . Money hungry is two words to describe this management. My daughter was not even 24 hours late of getting the rent to them and they charged her for eviction court $500 late fees. They don’t work with you at all. Even though the rent was paid that next day, they said they will not renew the lease. They won’t clean the apartment. When you move out, they ask if you want to pay someone to deep clean the apartment or if you will deep clean before you leave. They also tell you to set up an appt for a walk through prior to leaving, but they go whenever they want and don’t tell you. A walk through was never done with the tenant. Turn keys in and Buh-bye. Two bedroom $950. Piece of……..
