Founded in 1942 by Edmond “Chick” Dupont, Chick’s Market has been a mainstay for the Winooski community for over 70 years. Chick was a local who worked in the mills and left school after the 8th grade so he could work and contribute to the family. Besides being a store keeper, Chick ran a lively politically career from behind the market. He didn’t have to go to see people for their viewpoints, they came to him. Chick ran the store until 1982 when he sold the market to his nephew Richard Corbiere and his wife Carole. They in turn ran the store until 1999 when current owners Sonny and Pam Vezina became the curators of this landmark community market.
Today you can taste the quality, care and tradition that comes from serving the community for over 70 years. The Vezina family promise to you is that you’ll have your food the way they’d make it for their own family. Chick’s Market is located not too far from downtown Winooski VT. Just past the O’Brien Community Center on Malletts Bay Avenue go to the first traffic light and turn left at the intersection of West Lane. Go down to Hickok and you’ll see Chick’s Market right away.
