Chicken Delight has been a long time take-out restaurant in Rahway, serving Chicken, Ribs, Seafood and a large variety of sides.

Now under new ownership, we've updated the menu, some of the recipes, added delicious new lunch specials. Keeping all the old favorites and incorporating some new ideas.

Honestly the reviews made me expect so much more :. The chicken indeed does have a unique taste, I never thought I’d say chicken could be too moist but it felt like I was eating the most oily chicken ever. The roll was good but I’m assuming store bought. The wings were not crispy at all unfortunately, however the customer service was great, giving it an extra half star if I could even add that. The Mac n cheese looked like my baby cousin Sophia could make it better. I would say my favorite part was the corn, but it’s kinda hard to mess that up. But yeah very affordable I have to admit, and the staff is so sweet love them :
Ordered flounder sandwich and it came with one measly pc on a thick wedge of French Bread . Why did I assume the fish would be fresh ? Definitely over priced. Asked for crispy fries I got soft steak fries. The chicken tasted as if it was pre cooked frozen like the fish. I should've went to Popyes. Wasted $45.00 . Never again . That's not cooking. That's just heating up stuff !!!
Hidden gem, I vote its best fried chicken around. To me much better than KFC, Popeyes who use way too much batter. I drive 30 min one way for it, and my kids call it "Rahway Chicken" and ask for it by name... Note, if you want to order a bucket or so, call ahead, they cook to order. However, order it to go as it's a small restaurant and it smells of cooking oil inside.
You know what they say: "if it's not broke, don't fix it!" This is what makes chicken delight stand out from other "fried chicken" establishments. They have kept the same recipe consistent since I was walking around in diapers, in fact, since my grandfather was wearing diapers. They pressure cooker the chicken using a special frier which keeps it juicy, tender, and really allows the flavor of the seasoning to penetrate deep into the meat. This isn't your standard fried chicken place where only the fried skin / breading has flavor. No. The entire piece of chicken is oozing with deliciousness. As the saying goes: "don't cook tonight! Call chicken delight!"
I've been craving fried chicken for the longest but didn't want to go to the usual places...Popeyes or KFC. I looked up for the nears chicken shack and Chicken Delight came up. I want to say that they've been at this location for quite a long time as I remember coming here when I was a kid. The menu is extensive as they serve more than just fried chicken. Everything is cooked to order so expect to wait for your food or you could order ahead of time. The chicken was awesome. Crunchy on the outside, moist on the inside. I also ordered the corn fritters and those were tasty. Onions rings were a bit on the burnt side but I was ok with that. Great spot and I'm glad I went.
Believe it or not the crab legs here are great! Second time having them
Having been a regular customer to multiple locations throughout my entire life, i can say that this location produces better chicken. There is one catch, it's not entirely consistent, there are times where the chicken is 4 stars, but it's usually 5, could be oil temperature etc, i don't really know. It stays piping hot and remains crisp even after going for a ride in the car. The ribs are more than adequate, and have the milder southern style BBQ sauce with no vinegar odor. Potato wedges and crinkle cut fries are also very good.The staff are attentive and friendly as long as you're not a Yelp reviewer that expects the impossible of them. Have introduced it to several people i work with and all of them were very complimentary of the chicken's flavor.
LOVE the chicken here. Comparing it to KFC or Popeye's would be like comparing your favorite local pizza shop to Domino's. It's just 10 times better. Plus they have lots of other good stuff like ribs and snow crab legs. Everything is made to order so call ahead or you'll have to wait, but that's why it's consistent every time. There's a few tables but it's mostly a take-out place.
The wings are small, but really tasty. I wouldn't order the crab legs again because there was barely any meat inside of them. So that was a disappointment. Also the ribs were good with that sauce they added on the side.
Awesome!!!!!! Amazing!!!! The chicken is unbelievable as well as their Mac and cheese
